Junior at UND rushing for a second time this coming spring: How should I prepare?

I have no clue what I did wrong in the fall, so I'm wondering what I can do to prepare myself for spring recruitment, to avoid making the same mistakes:
-Should I talk to the sorority girls I know and what should I ask them?
-Are they likely to remember me and why they didn't like me the first time?

Thank you much!

Please feel free to use the search function on Greek Chat; there are wonderful, informative threads that contain a plethora of useful information about preparing for recruitment. You can spend a few hours reading today while the turkey is in the oven!

Follow up with the Greek Life Office regarding your GPA. As has been pointed out to you in other thread(s) you've started, your GPA is a starting point for looking at why you were released from all six chapters this past fall. The 3.0 GPA you report - is that based on your attendance at every college you've attended? When considering transfer credits and grades, typically the credits will transfer and the grades will not be used in calculating current GPA. So, your GPA from the three semesters (or is it just two?) that you've been at UND is what will be considered/reported; the spring semester 2011 at another college won't count.

Personally, I don't see the benefit of asking current actives (whom you describe as acquaintances and not close friends) why you were released. Membership selection is private and the answers that you get are not likely to be helpful to you. In other words, they won't tell you. They can't (unless, of course, it's something obvious that you haven't told us; for example, you were convicted of a felony. ).

It's really pointless to search for reasons; that's in the past. You have time to do the research and learn how to improve your chances. This is assuming that UND is offering some sort of spring recruitment; otherwise you'll be going through in Fall 2012 as a senior (age wise) and that, honestly, is not a promising prospect (even if you are going to be in school extra years).

This is the fourth thread you've started on the same topic in the last four days. This makes me think that maybe there was a reason other than being a transfer or a meh gpa that prevented you from getting a bid previously.

At first I thought this said meth gpa. Yipes. Although that would certainly be a reason too.

My school claims to be non-competitive. I talked to someone in the Greek Life office and she said they don't require letters of recommendation and that my age isn't a problem and having previously rushed isn't a problem. One house told us during Fall rush that they only require a 2.5 GPA to get in, and I can easily do that.
What the school and what the chapters tell you are TECHNICALITIES. Sorority membership is about people and how they connect. It's not like National Honor Society where if you have a certain GPA you're automatically in. If the girls don't like you, your age, grades or extracurriculars aren't going to matter one way or the other - unless you are a campus superstar of such magnitude that pledging you would automatically make them the most popular sorority there. And there are VERY few of those on earth.

Do NOT ask friends in sororities why you were released. That's confidential sorority business and asking them to divulge it to you is very inconsiderate. Just talk to them about normal stuff (movies, music, classes etc).

Hahaha, yes! Recruitment is at the end of January, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's about -20 outside.
