Too cool. My friend was in the Glassmen, and my mom was in the Marion Cadets when she was young. . I absolutely love the drum and bugle corps shows, and participated in a competition-style band for years, though not quite at your level. Congrats!!!!!!

My position with the Bluecoats is an Administrative Intern, which is responsible for helping with food shopping and preparation, driving members and staff to the airport and hospital if need be, and any miscellaneous needs of the corps. I'll be spending May and early June in the Canton, Ohio area, and then hitting the road after that. I'm including a schedule of where the corps is performing throughout the summer. PM me if you can make a show and I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you. Worst case scenario my fraternity's name can be used as a call.

The Spring Training for the corps is in Dennison University, just outside of Canton. I'll be there from May 17th to June 15th.

Moons ago, I always knew it was time to return to college when our local PBS station aired the yearly drum-and-bugle competitions. California teams with many props often won.
The weather is usually pretty good, my last tour in 2010 we only had rain once.

I'm a huge fan of the Santa Clara Vanguard (of California). California is a hotspot for the activity, with so many high caliber bands and corps.

Performances yes, but not in uniform and such. Usually there is a performance of the show each night at the end of the day.

The video I posted is from the 2011 season, using Creep from Radiohead.

This is my favorite video, the last rehearsal of the 2010 season, with a camera attached to a tuba. You see what the member sees (provided his horn is in a playing position.)

If watching this, you'll want to full screen it.

Too bad you're not coming through Iowa City - you could visit Headquarters!

Update! I have a rough idea of my schedule, and I have free days 6/29 in Chicago, and 7/22 in San Antonio. My GF is coming to Texas for the SA show and free day, but I'd always like to meet more greeks!

If some of you are so inclined, I'm in the process of updating bluecoats.com 's events site. I'll have stadium info and locations, as well as housing sites I'll be staying at. The show should be finished tomorrow, and it's a week til our 40th Anniversary Kickoff Event in Akron.
