Informal Recruitment???
What is the difference between informal recruitment and formal recruitment? Is there less stress involved in informal?

Informal is conducted differently by every sorority and every school. It typically involves less structured events with a variety of activities. Your school's Greek Life office is the best source of info for informal events on your campus. You could also contact each sorority about informal recruitment events, if they are being publicly advertised.
It is more relaxed because the events are set up differently than formal and the structure of formal does not apply in terms of Rho Chi's, rankings, etc. There is still an element of stress though, because it's still a recruitment situation. The sororities are still looking for quality women and certain things like GPA requirements and making a good impresion still apply. Also since it takes place AFTER formal recruitment, the sororities are limited in the # of girls they can take. This is also potentialy stressful, because there could be more girls rushing than a sorority is allowed to bid.

on many campuses, not all chapters will be able to participate in informal recruitment.

I was wondering why people were still replying to the OP seriously.

Wow... I'm not sure where I was when all that was going on, but I missed that one. (Must have been during the Great Troll Flood of 2007)

and no... lol.... I'm not still stalking Phi mu. I didn't think I was at first lol. I just liked their values but I'm beginning to learn what being in a sorority is all about. It's not popularity, parties, or getting guys. It's about the bonds of sisterhood, developing leadership, becoming someone that God wanted you to be in the first place. I also enjoy the fact that there is alot of community service involved. I like that kind of stuff; but yeah, thanks for the wake-up call you guys. I mean even if you still think I'm psycho lol... you really gave me a wake-up call.

You could contact the Office of Greek Life for info about informal recruitment, or be on the lookout for flyers advertising informal recruitment opportunities.
Some sororities may have a series of open events, then hand out bids to the girls they want at the end. Others might have a couple of open events, then have some invite-only events after that. It really just depends on how things are done at your school.
