Smile Rushing as a Junior? Help me!

Hi

I am going to be a junior at western kentucky university in the fall of 2005. I was wondering if rushing as a junior is to old? I have rushed before but didnt get a bid my freshman year.. I have been working to get my grades up but i didnt know if most soroities decided amoung age. I am interested in Chi Omega, but i just want some advice first!

Thanks!!!

First advice, keep an open mind. Everyone will keep on telling you this till they start sounding like broken records. XO is a great sorority, but I know WKU has other great sororities.

Second, do you know sorority members on your campus? If so, get their advice because they'll know for sure what the odds are of upperclassmen getting bids. I know there are a few WKU students here on GC, but I haven't seen them post recently.

I know many people who have received bids as juniors, but on many campuses where rush is cutthroat, it's pretty much impossible. Age is definitely not the only thing sororities look for when determining bids (grades, extra-curriculars, and personality are big ones), but they'll definitely consider how much time you'll have with them as an undergrad.

You'll get lots of GENERAL advice here online, but your best bet would be to try to get to know the girls on your campus first. They'll be your BEST source of information.

I don't think rush at WKU is that competitive--I may be wrong, though. However, I know of quite a few juniors who received bids at UK, so if your grades are good and you have some extracurriculars, fire on it.

Some schools do not count juniors or seniors as part of quota to encourage upperclassmen to join. You may want to check with your Office of Greek Life to see if juniors are counted in quota. If they are not, then your chances of receiving a bid would be higher.
