Alpha O, I had a talk with a sister who had actually worn an Adelphean badge while at Grand Conference. She was terrified that something would happen to it the whole time!
On "that site," I saw an ADPi pin that the seller is advertising as gold plated. I have never, in all of years I've been an ADPi, seen a gold plated pin before. Has anyone else? I sent a message to the seller, asking for the year, but haven't gotten a response yet.
ETA: Got the response: "Thank you for your question. This pin is from the 1980's - I think was purchased in 1980. I'm glad you asked the question - I'm not a jewelry expert so took a closer look and am not positive that it is gold plated - that is what I thought I remembered but its a long time ago so memory may be wrong. I'm going to update the description for this item as I don't want to mislead anyone and I'm adding more pictures to show the markings on the back more clearly."

Have you ever had sterling silver badges? Maybe it is tarnished silver.

I came across this Phi Mu badge with amethysts on Pinterest. I don't think I've ever seen an amethyst Phi Mu badge so I figured I'd post.

^^ WOWZA!!! Definitely swoon-worthy!
Two of the ADPi pins I'm still looking for are ones with amethyst points and aquamarine points. Someday...!

I can't imagine not getting a badge! It wasn't part of the new member fees, but it wasn't an optional thing either.

I just looked up AST on THAT site, and I came across some pretty interesting pins. The labels are what's listed for each item being sold, but I don't know if the information posted is accurate (or well thought out/researched). If anyone knows what they're from, feel free to speak up! I think I may have posted the star pin before, but I can't remember.
Sigma Alpha Tau Sorority/Fraternity
Alpha Tau Gamma Tau Sigma (I think the Taus are actually Upsilons)
Alpha Sigma Tau Fraternity/Sorority
Alpha Tau Eta Rho Fraternity/Sorority

I think the last badge is Alpha Sigma Tau Eta Rho, which spells ASTER in Greek letters and means "star". Not sure whether that's the org's name, though.
Our former International President came to talk to my chapter today and I got to see her badge up close-it's a row of sapphires surrounded by a row of diamonds with a gavel chapter guard. She said it's the badge all former Presidents are given as a thank you for their service and that it has her initiation information on the back. We're facebook friends now so maybe I can get her to send me a picture of it!

*scratches head*
AEPhi requires all new members to purchase a badge. The only options are (1) chapter guard or no guard, and (2) dangles. At minimum, you had to purchase a badge, which in my day was $75.
Why wouldn't you want a badge??

I thought every group required the purchase of at least a basic badge, and then if there are options, you could choose upgraded options if you wanted to pay for them

I'm presuming that you are referring to NPC sororities....

Nope. Sigma Kappa does, but I have many friends in other NPC organizations who did not purchase badges, nor were they required to.
