Brotherhood Event ideas

Hey guys,

I've been tasked with the job of creating brotherhood events for my chapter. You know somthing we can all do to spend some time with the brothers and all be together doing somthing. Most people try and solve it with a beerpong tournament or somthing but i'm looking for sober events. Already i've planned a paintball trip for our chapter where we spend a day at the fields and duke it out. Also we do a chapter Canoe trip during summer but are there any other things that you think would be good for an entire chapter? (Ropes course may be a little expensive for us)

This is what i've come across so far:
Poker night-hard to do with fifty guys and half dont like poker
Indoor rock climbing
....

Thanks for all suggestions

Brotherhood Events

It sounds like I may be in a smallerr chapter than you but here are some ideas we've used:

-every wednesday we meet at a local restuant for dinner
-inturmural sports through your school
-We all went to CiCi's pizza for the $3 buffet
-Camping trips
-we rented out the school's bowling alley/pool hall for an evening.

In the past we're done stuff like a campus-wide game of capture the flag in the middle of the night (or at least after dark). We also do this event every semester that's kind of like a no holds barred man hunt, PM me if you want the details on that. I guess we're pretty set in the 'run around campus in the dark' genre, but everyone really enjoys them.

Rafting/Camping trips are always a great idea but they can be difficult to plan.

We go camping at least twice a year for a weekend with the entire chapter and its something everyone looks forward to.

The chapter I advise recently played paintball as a group and loved it.

Regular events could also be used to strengthen your brotherhood. Encourage attendance to intramural games, whether as a spectator/supporter or a player. When doing chapter community service events, plan for everyone to eat before/after the event.

If you want to do poker, there's nothing that prevents you from having a Card Night. Include tables for poker, spades, etc.

At my chapter, we have movie nights at the house, go to the movie openings, participate in IMs, poker nights, go camping, get food catered to us, go to a buffet, play volleyball or chill by the pool. You could also go to the coast for a weekend, have your chapter visit another chapter, or have a night of brothers only drinking games or a keg race. Good luck!

Try doing something that mixes member development/education with some sort of fun event

Perhaps something like a ritual barbecue. Split up the different parts of your initiation and discuss them one-by-one. Have a few steaks and chill out while you're at it. You'd be surprised at how all of your brothers interpret the different aspects of initiation

By the end of the night, you will feel really good about yourselves and your chapter
