Wouldn't it just be easier to say "released from recruitment"?

No way that's got six syllables, plus it doesn't sound nearly as dramatic. Old terminology often sticks around and gets repurposed, so it's not surprising. I don't actually know that that is what happening, just postulating.

/tired.

Maybe so. It's weird since it's one of those terms used to describe a myth so its use now for being released is kinda confusing.

I'm wondering if having 2 chapters on suspension kind of threw everyone else off. Maybe they over-invited the first 2 days because they were used to lower return rates due to competition with 2 additional chapters. When they did make their big cuts, they may have gone overboard and cut too many.

Do look into COB. If there's someone not at chapter total, you might still be able to find a way in. Good luck! I'm sorry for your unsuccessful recruitment.

Thank you I am looking into informal recruitment and hopefully I will have better luck with that. One more thing, my freshman year I was at another school and I pledged a sorority then but did not go through with initiation because I found out I was transferring and wanted to rush at University of Miami. Do you think that could have hurt me while rushing?

Two chapters are on suspension? Did they not participate in FR?

She's thinking Miami (Ohio) not Miami in Fl where this PNM is.

AOII Angel is right. I was thinking Miami of OH. Sorry to cause confusion!

Regarding the question about your previous pledge experience, it shouldn't have. They should understand, and besides, if you didn't tell them, they probably wouldn't know.

Did you leave on very good terms at that other school? The sorority world is very small and anything negative about the way you resigned or left could have made its way to your new school.

And you don't have to answer this, but do you have a sterling reputation on campus? I have no idea how membership selection works in all the groups, but multiple sisters who rank you 10 might not outweigh other information if it comes to light. I'm NOT saying this is the case for you and that's why I said you don't have to answer this. But lots of other women read these threads over the years and it may be the case with them.

That said, I hope something works out for you!

Hi, yes I left on good terms with my other sorority and I just transferred this fall to University of Miami so I am not really known at campus. I have become involved in two organizations that are pre-law organizations and one honor society. Besides that the only people who know me are the friends I have made, which only two are in sororities and both said they really wanted me in their's when I was going through recruitment.
