Lame new college-themed tv show

Just saw a commercial for a new show on TBS, called "Glory Daze".

It seems very similar to Greek in that the main character is a dorky guy who seems waaaay too enthusiastic about being in college. I kid you not, these are the lines he says in the commercial:

"THIS! is COLLEGE!!"
"I'm on my own now! It's crazy!"
"There's no parents... there's no curfew..."
"Wooo!!! This is gonna be a wild ride! I mean, who KNOWS what's gonna happen?!"
"THESE are the glory DAYS"
"Arooooooooooo" (he actually howls)

The writing already scares me.

IMDB doesn't have much info, but a google search found an article stating that it's going to be about college life in the 80s, which makes sense since there is a whole lot of preppiness going on (guys in argyle sweater vests, a tie and sport jacket), and girls with big hair.

Oh, and "O" in "Glory is an Omega, and the "E" in the "Daze" part of the title...is a Sigma.

ETA: more about the show: http://www.tbs.com/shows/glorydaze/

Hmm, ... I just may stay tuned for this one. By today's standards, it would probably be considered lame, but I'm a geeky professional student myself, who loves old college flicks from the 80s, like Makin' the Grade and Real Genius. So I just might get a kick out of the show. After all, my hay-day was in the 80s ...

On the other hand, TBS has never had a clue when it came to their own network shows, ... like that dreadful "My Boys" show that I can't believe STILL comes on. So, if it turns out to be lame, it's because it's on TBS. LOL!!

Has anyone watched any episodes? It's pretty bad. Typical plotlines with random 80s references.

I've seen a few of the episodes-they ran some back to back when youngest was home over winter break-we just giggled our way through the silliness of them. It is really cotton candy TV. The show is pretty tame and really adheres to stereotypes. I must admit, I watched it mainly for the clothes and hairstyles of my generation.

The show's pretty bad. The only thing that caught my attention is that one of the characters went to visit an Asian fraternity house. That was the first time I ever saw a fraternity on TV that wasn't mainstream or BGLO.

I watched parts of two episodes when it was really late the other night. If you're going to do a cliched TV show about Greek Life at least make it interesting. I thought it was painfully boring and unimaginative. At least Greek has characters you can get interested in - love them or hate them.

Yep, no matter the type of character, you want viewers to care about them. There is nothing interesting about any single character.

I watched several of the shows hoping for a laugh, since they're keeping the old episodes of 'The Big Bang Theory' off iTunes because they see a lot of money in syndication.

I see this as, 'Greek' is to 'Animal House' as 'Glory Daze' is to 'Porky's'. I can't see it lasting.

LMAO the commercial just came on. This show is gawdawful. Like, uber lame. I watched the first couple of eps and its total snoozefest. I too liked the Asian frat house part.

The scene where the guy goes HAM and brands himself in an overzealous pledge rage - i chuckled at that too.

Otherwise, meh.
