Delta House closed
Fond frat farewell
Usually, the closing of a nightclub is no cause for celebration — unless there’s something new to replace it. Delta House, the frat-house-themed nightclub inside the Fort Wayne Marriott, 305 E. Washington Center Road, will have an official closing party at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Delta House, which opened in 1991, will make way for Rum Runners, the Caribbean-themed nightclub that we told you about in April. Azar, Inc., which operates the Marriott in Fort Wayne and in several other cities, is a new franchisee for the Raleigh, N.C.-based Rum Runners chain.
Rum Runners is known for its award-winning lunch, dinner and late-night menus, and for a tropical theme that includes palm trees, thatched roof tiki huts, island-style shacks, cobblestone floors, tropical colors and lush foliage.
The restaurants also have dueling pianos, featuring two entertainers playing baby grands simultaneously. Their repertoire spans pop hits from the 1950s through today, and audience and staff participation is encouraged. Most locations are open six days a week.
