But I'm really interested in XYZ sorority ( you're not supposed name sororities you're interested in, right?!) this year and have done a lot of research about them. I don't want to seem like just some dumb T- shirt wearer doing community service right before Rush. Should I attempt going to XYZ's informationals or should I wait until next year?
Do I even stand a chance of getting in?
Sorry this is so long!!! i just want to get some decent advice!!!

You have a very good GPA! Congratulations!
You have good grades. You did some service. If you were my real-life friend, I would ask you if you actually knew any members of the chapter that you want to join. If you didn't, I would be more concerned about that than service.
You should do service anyway. I know you're afraid of how it will look.
Your answer will be a definite NO if you don't try, right? So try.
