Rushing as a Junior

Hey guys. I am going to be transferring next year from Canada to the US and i intended to rush a fraternity. But I will be in my junior year is that going to effect my chances of getting a bid.

PS: i might even stay an extra year in college

As everyone will tell you:

It depends on the region and the campus.

Sometimes it matter, sometimes it doesn't. Depending on where you are going to go.

Because when something bad happens in a really big car – accidentally speeding through the middle of a gang of unruly young people who have been taunting you in a drive-in restaurant, for instance – it happens very far away – way out at the end of your fenders. It's like a civil war in Africa; you know, it doesn't really concern you too much. - P.J. O'Rourke

Another thing you should consider is your class standing/age. You are pledging as a junior in recruitment. Are you cool with having younger members telling you what to do?

I had a friend rush a fraternity at Kentucky in the spring. He soon quit because he didnt like second semester freshman telling him what to do.

Ditto this! It really depends on the school. I would also check with the school's Greek Life office to see if a fraternity is colonizing at the campus. They are often looking for upperclassmen.
