So what is the story behind Dave Westol's departure?

Interesting that the new Executive Director is the current national president (and a guy who had been national president previously, '88-'92). He also comes from an academic background at Alabama. That might not be a good sign... look at SAE!

Was this a power play?

Dave was a very highly regarded fraternity executive and speaker. I understand he's moved on to GreekSpeak, a fraternity speakers circuit, now.

And I just noticed that the chair of the Executive Director search committee was the national vice president...

Who now steps up to be national president with the move of the president to Executive Director...

Take a quick look at the various grand chapter members' stances on dry housing while you're at it.
If anyone wan't to talk about it, I'm at this username @case.edu.
We've got a couple guys who are really involved in national stuff, so I hear a fair amount, though it is all second hand.
