University of Maryland Rush

Can anyone tell me when the University of Maryland has their sorority rush?

And which chapters are competitive and which ones are struggling please?

Best of luck to everyone involved at UofMD!

According to the recruitment sections of the web sites of the UMD chapters of Delta Gamma and Alpha Delta Pi, 2004 NPC recruitment at College Park is

Mon Jan 26 and Tue Jan 27 -- Tours (14 parties)

Thurs Jan 29 and Fri Jan 30 -- Set of 10

Sun Feb 1 -- Set of 5

Tues Feb 2 -- Preference

Wed Feb 4 -- Bid day

for reference (and in case I made a typo), the Maryland DG web site is

http://www.inform.umd.edu/studentorg...a/newrush.html

The UMD College Park Panhellenic council web site does not seem to list the 2004 recruitment dates (the 2003 ones were there today, Jan 6). Odd.

As to "competitive" or "struggling" chapters, I have no idea. I doubt that anyone will answer that; usually GCers emphasize an "open mind" and seeking the best mutual fit between a PNM and a chapter.

you may find the answer to your question

about when rush is scheduled at the university of maryland by looking at the u of m. website, under either greek life, panhellenic council or organizations. those categories are usually found under student or campus life on most college websites. i don't imagine that you will find anyone on greekchat that will answer your second question. that is something you will have to find out on your own.

edit: and would you really want to base YOUR opinion on the opinion of a person you don't know?

I go to school in DC but we go to Maryland to party sometimes and in my experience DG is the strongest, of course AXO was pretty chill...

Here is the link for the Univ. of Maryland's Panhellenic website. There's a link to the Spring Recruitment Registration form.

Listed sororities at UMD:

Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Omicron Pi
Alpha Phi
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Delta Phi Epsilon
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Kappa
Zeta Tau Alpha

As you can see not all the groups have a site listed, so I'd go ahead and send in the registration form and see what kind of info they give you from Panhellenic.

Browneyed girl -- you have a great memory!

I'll be honest, yes I am an alumnae of a chapter at UMD but graduated many years ago. My biological sister is an advisor at another chapter at UMD and I'm just trying to gauge the status of the greek system and some chapters in particular.

There is nothing sinsister about my intentions, I promise, and I understand no one, or not many people, will say "XYZ is the worst house on campus" etc etc but I'm trying to help her help her chapter. And try to figure out what the perception at Maryland is. So much has changed since I graduated there, it's amazing. Then again, it's amazing how much has stayed the same too.

From Theta's website:

Set of 14 - Tours: Monday January 26th, 7-10:30PM
Tuesday January 27th, 7-10:30PM

Set of 10 - Philanthropy: Thursday January 29th, 7-10:30PM
Friday January 30th, 7-10:30PM

Set of 5 - Skits: Sunday February 1, 9AM-2PM

Set of 3 - Preference: Tuesday February 3rd, 6-10PM

their website: http://www.inform.umd.edu/Student/Ca...tudentOrg/kat/

and according to my sister, her opinion is that Theta, KD and Tri-Delt are currently the most competitive. She new membered in the fall, so thats based on a new sister's perspective.

off topic: she did say AXO has the prettiest house from the outside I cant wait to visit her so I can visit the house!
