Craziest sorority or fraternity house amenities

Not an amenity, per se, but there's a Fraternity house at UGA that has a series of tunnels in the basement that were used during Prohibition to aid in bootlegging. Fun stuff!

At UW (WA), there are 3 fraternity houses with pools (two outdoor, one indoor). Several sororities (and I'm sure fraternities) with small gyms. Most, if not all, sororities have hashers/house boys that help set up/take down dinner. And last time I was in ADPi's house (which admittedly has been a little while), they had both an actual (small) library, with books, as well as a theater room with a screen and large movie theater-type seats.


I'm sure there are other amenities I'm not aware of as I don't get tours of other houses very often.

Using a bible wasn't considered an honor code violation. Most students pretty much understood that, if a professor reused old questions and the student just copied the answers out of a bible, s/he was doing him/herself a disservice. If the course in question was a prerequisite, then, when the student took the more advanced courses, the fact that the student had just copied the answers and not internalized the material would bite him/her in the ass. If you copied your way through basic calculus, you'd never survive differential equations, for example.

BTW, there were non-greek groups at my school that had their own bible collections. My chapter was unhoused, and I could have donated my bibles to my sorority's collection or to my dorm floor's collection. (They're long since obsolete, of course, unless someone really wants to learn about token ring or frame relay LOL )

I believe several of the Greek houses at U of Texas have pools.

Daughter's sorority house had a "library" that was one of the few informal gathering places in the house. It mostly hosted card games, studying, and TV watching. They redecorated. Result - not one book in the "library" - only a giant TV.

Same thing at IU, at least when I was there. IUSA (student government) maintained a set of test files at the main library, available to any student.

My sorority did, and still does, have a dedicated Chapel, with a stained glass window, nice carpet and seating for a small group. Also a sun deck for those whose worship is of a different type...

We also had houseboys who served dinner every day. (we also sang Kappa Delta grace every night)

We had a part-time "house mom" at our chapter, who helped organize things like our holiday party/gift exchange and parents weekend. She was also on hand before our formals and initiations to offer any wardrobe assistance.

She didn't do any of our chores, but if anyone had questions about how to do stuff - laundry, sew a button - she'd tell them how to do it.
