How hard is it for you to figure out what houses are the most comfortable for you?

I've not been through formal rush, so I couldn't say what to look for while at a particular house. In general, a safe bet is to remember what you value the most, and look for the same qualities in the members you meet during rush. Doing a web-search on the origins of each sorority isn't a bad idea either. There's one thing I keep hearing over and over again from women who are genuinely content with their house, that they just felt "right" and at home. Sorta vague, huh? Just keep your mind and heart open, that's the best bet.

Incidentally, I just love your website! Very well organized! I've read a bit of Brookline U. background, and can't wait to read more. I'm curious, since you're new to the sorority rush/membership process, how'd you go about researching and coming up with the sororities at Brookline?

my school has 21 sororities!!! formal rush is really really tough for people but as you elimintate sororities, they also eliminate you gradually. So not only do you pick which one is right for you, they help to get you in the right one as well.

Well, I was particularly intrigued by the Gamma Chi profile! It seems, shall we say, familiar!

i have a interesting perspective on this question:

when i rushed for the first time (second semester freshman year), i rushed a sorority and pledged it for seven weeks. i was three days shy of initiation and dropped. something inside me told me that it wasn't a good thing to do and that i wasn't going to be happy with it if i became a sister. the mext semester, i was approached by my future big sister about sigma alpha iota. they held a seperate rush, so i went, pledged the ten weeks, had the greatest pledge experience ever and was chapter president last year. i knew in my hear that SAI was for me. i knew as soon as i met the sisters, as soon as i saw the girls i could be pledging with and as soon as my big sister came up to me and smiled at me. something just did it for me.

so in answer to your question: you just know. trust me, and everyone else here reading, smiling and thinking back on thier rush experience. don't worry so much. be yourself, get in there, take in everything you can and decide for yourself. have fun!
