Herstory
I thought that this was the most Politically Correct until...
I found a chapter of Swing Phi Swing that had a page on their 'Sistory'...
Though not as eye rolling as the story I read that had a Guy who lived in the middle of nowhere as a 'Himmit'

It is a play on words that has been used for generations.
Many people pronounce the word as "his-story" or "hisss-tory" instead of "his-tery."
And we all know that mainstream national history and international history minimizes or omits women, non-whites, and other demographics of people. If people are concerned with "politically correct" (I hate that phrase) then be concerned with that and work towards change.

Sometime in the mid-70s, I read a newspaper column that has remained with me forever. While I'd love to quote a source, I simply can't find it, though I read it in the Berkshire Eagle newspaper.
The author bemoans changing the language simply due to what we today call PC. He goes on to show what would happen to Harry S Truman's name in (today's) world:
Harry - well, that speaks to the hirsute, but are we really dismissing all those challenged in that area? If we're to talk of "harry", we must also include "Baldy"
S - we all know the "S" in Harry S Truman didn't stand for anything (at least, in the 70s all schoolchildren knew this), so any letter should do. Let's choose "R"
Tru - sure, but why not false, which is equally valid.
Man - why not "woman"? Come to think, "person"is more correct. Oh, wait, "person" is also sexist, and could be "perdaughter"
Thus the name Baldy R Falseperdaughter to refer to refer to our 33rd president.
Ludicrous? Sure, but it's stayed with me for over 40 years.

I guess that 45 years counts as generations, but barely. (Wikipedia says the neologism dates to the late 1960s)

Yes.
http://www.princeton.edu/~achaney/tm.../Herstory.html is better than, but redirects to, Wikipedia.

Can't find anything to indicate a list of the inactive chapters of Swing. And the chapter list for Groove is confusing. It will be interesting to see whether they get grouped with Alpha Phi Omega and KKPsi...

Depends on what you mean by "grouped." I don't know that there is a non-social council at Howard, but I do know that administratively, Howard divides organizations first by those that have any sort of selective and/or pledging process from those that don't.

So the first grouping is selecting/pledging process and the second "grouping" is NPHC and "other"... Would be interesting to have an "other" council...

Those organizations with some sort of process.
Those organizations with no process.
I am not personally in favor of grouping organizations that don't have anything in common programmatically.
