What should i do?
Hi all-
I am going through formal recruitment in 2 weeks at the university of tampa. I wanted to know if this sounded pretentious or not. I know at one point or another I am going to be asked why i decided i wanted to be in a sorority i just wanted to know if you all thought this sounded like a good answer because its honestly why i want to be in a sorority!
I attended a small all girls high school. There were 52 of us in my class and we bonded so much of the years and essentially became a family. I love the fact that we still do class emails back and forth to each other and I want to find another home away from home at UT. I've always known I wanted to be in a sorority. Bonding with the girls in my grade allowed me to see a little glimpse of how that would be.
I truly feel like this but i don't want to sound like i made it up. Your thoughts are appreciated.

This answer sounds fine, but you really don't HAVE to be prepared with an ultra-planned answer. The chapters aren't expecting you to have one.
Also, don't go on and on. Not saying that this answer is long, but you don't need to go on and on about your reasons. You won't have that much time and the chapters are trying to get to know YOU.

I'm swerving out of my lane here, but I like your answer. Actually, one of the reasons I pursued sorority membership is because I had always been involved in activities for girls since childhood and it made a positive impact on my life. If an interested woman gave me the answer you gave, I would find it much more genuine than some of the other responses I've heard over the years.

Your answer will serve the rusher a good segway into what makes a good friend. It might allow the chapter to learn more about your personal qualities that could make you a valuable sister.
