I heard through the grapevine that no one submitted a packet to LSU for expansion.

Anyone know if Alpha Delta Pi accepted to colonize at Sacred Heart in Spring '13?

I'm surprised, but not too surprised.

If this is true, wow! Is there a problem with securing housing that would be needed for a chapter or something else? I find it hard to believe that nobody would submit an interest packet at a school like LSU but maybe I don't know the reasoning behind this (if it indeed is true).

I know back in 2002 when Sigma was invited to colonize the housing offered (Delta Chi, if I recall correctly) needed to much renovation to be viable at the time...
perhaps the same is still true today?

^^^It's either the same situation (DX needing too many renovations to be comparable) or DX is NO LONGER available and whoever colonizes would need $$$ and space to build new housing. I'm not sure, but if LSU is like other schools, they may not have room for anyone to build.

At LSU the old housing stock has been used too long for other things and the University has filled in all the places that use to be empty on that side of campus.

Mary Poppins is right. Nothing is available anywhere near sorority row, setting up a new chapter for certain failure...or at least that is the opinion I heard today.

This is incorrect. There is one NPC organization that submitted and will be doing a presentation this summer.

Here's the current housing situation at LSU:
LSU's sorority row was built with 17 houses. 10 are occupied by the 10 current PHC sororities. 4 are occupied by fraternities, and 2 by the university (University Press building and University Relations building). There is one vacant house. It was built by Alpha Chi Omega in the 1960's and housed Delta Chi fraternity at some point, but I know it has been vacant for at least 10 years. It is a great location for a potential new sorority, as it is located between Zeta Tau Alpha and Kappa Alpha Theta. However, in my opinion, renovation is not an option. It has vines growing up the side of it and the windows have been boarded up. I think it would have to be demolished and a new house built on its site.
So, land DOES exist for a new sorority. It will just require a significant investment by the new sorority to demolish it and rebuild something comparable to the other 10 sororities. LSU does desperately need a new sorority though. Current membership of the 10 current sororities ranges from 210-287 members, according to the LSU Greek Life website.

Just as a LSU FYI - Delta Chi recently purchased the Alpha Gamma Rho house, I'm not sure if we still own the abandoned property, but I would imagine not if the LSU Housing Corporation had the capital to purchase AGR. (I could be wrong)
