UVa - All Fraternities Must Initiate Pledges by 6pm Saturday(4/6)

Officials at the University of Virginia have decreed that all fraternity pledges be initiated by this Saturday(4/6/13).

"If fraternities do not cooperate with Thursday night’s request, the University has threatened to postpone renewal of the Fraternal Organization Agreement with the IFC, which would effectively prevent the groups from using University resources and participating in University-sponsored activities. Interesting. IIRC, it takes a collegiate chapter in my org more than a day and a half to get clearance for initiation from HQ, but maybe all the national orgs will do what they must to comply.

How do they verify that the initiations have occurred? I'm thinking they're going to have some "off the record" activities leading up to a "real" initiation.

Also, what about the fact that folks bring in new members at different times?

Big question.

Whats stopping them from doing a "let's say we did and just move on"? There really isn't a way for administration to know if there was initiations unless they happen to be a part of the same organization.
