I was reading the posts about ICS and quota range so I thought I'd try to shed some light on it.
Usually, the Greek Advisor and the RFM Specialist get on the phone on Pref night and talk about how many women are still in the system (who haven't dropped). Some will set the initial quota range before Binding Agreements are signed, some wait until they are all signed. The "low" end of the Quota range is set based on the number of women who sign the Binding Agreement, or who are projected to sign an agreement (like quota used to be set).
When it's time for Bid Matching, we enter a quota range that starts with the low quota number and ends 5 numbers higher (that's all ICS will run at once). ICS runs bid matching and will give you a table that shows how many NMs each chapter will take at different quotas (for example 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25). You can enter different ranges and run it as many times as you want to get the best balance between the chapters who make quota (or not) and the number of PNMs who don't match. We also looked at who was eligible for quota additions and who wasn't. Our goal was to get quota as high as possible (to match the most PNMs) while getting the most chapters to match it. It doesn't help if you set quota high and only one chapter gets it, but you also don't want to set quota at a low number and have to release a lot of PNMs. Once you decide on what quota is, then you go back and do quota additions and snap bids, etc.
So, long story short is that the computer is doing all the math, but there are humans looking at the results and making the decisions on what's best for that campus. It's not all done by the computer.
(I am a Greek advisor who uses ICS)

KSU recruitment is over! Quota was 40. I'm loving the numbers increase we've seen over the past few years. When I was active, quota was usually in the mid teens or low 20s. Since I've been an alumna, quota has been getting higher every year.

As of 9/27 daughter heard there were around 800 girls signed up for recruitment at University of Oregon. They were expecting around 100 more to sign up by the deadline (midnight 9/28). That's another big jump for Oregon greek life if it's accurate.

They don't let you watch the process. It's only Greek Adviser and RFM Specialist.

I WISH I knew some numbers from UC Santa Cruz. I'll be there for pref, though!
I heard that total at Santa Clara is 150. Kappa currently has 102.

Nice article about KSU recruitment: Sororities see record numbers
Quota this year was 40, which is the highest ever. It has been creeping up in recent years. When I was active (just 4 years ago), it was usually in the teens or low 20s.
PS. The quote from one of my collegiate chapter's NMs made me smile.

Ohio Northern Results:
(Disclaimer - the Greek Life office/director did not want to give me numbers for any chapter other than my own that I advise, so I can only share definate numbers on Theta )
Quota was 19.
Theta took 20
69 total bids were given out (4 chapters are Alpha Xi, DZ, Theta and Zeta), and 67 were accepted. Some COBing was still going on as of this morning. I hope to get totals from our ABC today.
I'm a little on the sad side, numbers are WAY down for everyone. Not sure why. I think quota last year was around 27, and when I was there, quota was often in the upper 20's and low 30's with chapter total being around 90.

Is enrollment down over all, have tuition and fees increased a lot, or something else entirely?
Do you mean snapping or COBing? Or we're mixing our terms?

I don't think tuition has increased (much), but I do know that quarterly dues have increased. Three out of four chapters are in new houses built by and owned by the University. A 4th house was built, in case Zeta ever wants to move on campus, but I don't anticipate that happening because their off-campus house is REALLY nice and big. But the new housing bumped up the dues quite significantly for Theta, so I imagine it's the same for DZ and Alpha Xi. No idea what the numbers were for girls going through rush, I'll try to find out from our ABC.
And the GL director said COBing (shrug).

Its hard fro me to imagine theis numbers! We had about 160 go threw this at SELU and we (AST Phi) are at a chapter total of 74. I know at LSU the Chapter totals are almost 200. Maybe some of you could explane how building a sisterhood works at such big numbers? I know it does, But maybe just a little insight. SELU is growing each year, and I for one think it will be sometime soon when one of the 5 chapters on campus passes 100. I'd like to know how others build their sisterhood with larger chapters so maybe I can share it with some of my sisters as we grow. Thanks guys.

UCSD and Univ. of Oregon
Two western universities ended recruitment this week. Does anyone have recruitment numbers for these schools?
