Time/CBS on Global Warming...

CBS has reported, on 60 Minutes, the rapidly (and perhaps alarmingly) increasing rate of the effects of Global Warming.

According to the network, even among environmentalists, scientists and politicans, there is little disagreement on the hazards these days.

From a CBS website:

"Now Time magazine has weighed in on the topic in a cover story, the thrust of which can be summed up in the tagline that graces the cover: "Be Worried. Be Very Worried."

I just finished reading the TIME articles, and I was almost in tears by the time I finished it. No one can deny that the Earth is going through enormous changes, and if we keep on our current pace, its only going to get worse.

I just attended a conference about Global Warming at which Jeffrey Sachs gave the keynote address. He was really interesting. The whole conference was frightening and eye opening.

I still find it hard to swallow.

Less than fifty years ago everyone jumped on the bandwagon about global cooling and how another Ice Age was on hand. Now, everyone is up in arms about global warming. Even if they took every bit of evidence they have (as far back as merchant logs sailing in the 1700s), the time scale isn't nearly enough to base the theory on. 300 years isn't even a milli-second when compared to the life of the planet so far.

We have definitly seen this sort of thing happen in the past within the scientific community. A new, barely understood theory comes about and anyone that doesn't buy in is a fraud/hack/idiot. So much so that anyone that dissents is black balled out of science.

It could turn out that you're right, but you're definitely in the minority at this point.

Even past skeptics have fallen into line if the article(s) are true.

The Weather Changes! DAH. It is a known Fact!

If that is the case, then why are all of the rivers and ponds so low?

Give the Weather Prognosicators Rooms with Windows so they know what the Heck is going on?

I Predict that By 2120 that We will be saved by Aliens from The X Planet!
