Question Kappa Wedding

Hey ladies! I'm getting married this summer and I'm the first one of my sisters.

I want to do something with them at the ceremony but idk if Kappa has an official wedding thing or a song or anything.

If anyone has any advice or link or suggestions. Or even just what you did at your wedding with for Kappa that would be amazing!!!

TIA

-Jenny

You could give each of them irises or have a pew or two reserved for them and roped off with blue and blue ribbon.

The only tradition that I know about is at the reception. The sisters will surround the bride and sing to her. I've also heard of singing to the groom as well.

Best wishes for a long a happy life together!

Congratulations on your engagement!

There is no Fraternity-specific song or tradition. Each chapter tends to do their own thing, if they do anything at all.

I've seen girls have fleur-de-lis pins on their bouquets (so pretty!), wear their keys (or a key) on the inside of their dress, in their hair, on their bouquets, etc..., use irises in their flowers somehow, give irises to Kappas attending, have fleur-de-lis/keys/irises on the invitations, etc...

As far as songs go, at my wedding we serenaded my husband with two chapter-specific, fun songs. You could also do Dream Awhile, On the Heart of Each sister, or another nice song.

It's gonna be a hootenanny.
Or maybe a jamboree.
Or possibly even a shindig or lollapalooza.
Perhaps it'll be a hootshinpaloozaree. I don't know.

When my husband and I got married (27 years ago this year!), we recessed (walked out) to the congregation singing the hymn "Let All Things Now Living."

Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving
To God the Creator triumphantly raise,
Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,
Who still guideth us on to the end of our days.
His banners are o’er us,
His light goes before us,
A pillar of fire shining forth in the night,
‘Til shadows have vanished and darkness is banished,
as forward we travel from light into light.

There's another verse, too, just Google it. ANYWAY, I have always loved that hymn, and thought the words were great as a benediction as we started our new life together. It is sung to the tune of "The Ash Grove." That is the tune that we sing "On the Heart of Each Sister." Of course, only the Kappas in attendance knew that significance. We also had a great trumpeter doing the descant. But I digress. . .

Wonderful memories. *happy sigh* Congratulations on your engagement.
