Unfortunate but good at the same time. This is one of a few movies that should not have been made. I don't see this as artistic license, etc.

To me this movie just looks plain idiotic and not worth seeing regardless. Don't get me wrong I do like movies that have sort of that "silly" humor. But this just not look interesting or funny based on the previews.

The movie Team America is far more irreverent in its treating of the leader of North Korea. It's not as if this reaction could have reasonably been predicted.

Maybe not, but the threats started about 6 months ago, so it's not as if this problem just popped up yesterday. The movie has been edited and altered, and the release date was pushed back from October to December. Clearly none of that helped. The threats kept coming and now the movie won't be shown in major US theaters.

All I can say about this situation is that before, I wasn't really sure I wanted to see it and now, I feel it is my duty as an American to watch this film and somehow pay Sony for the pleasure of doing so.

Lol Kevin.

A friend hit the nail on the head and said the only reason this is being pulled is that the threats might keep people from seeing other Sony films in multiplexes.

I was thinking this on some level, of course I'm too cheap to see a movie that I won't likely care for. But I was reading that they aren't even going to release this on Netflix, or other streaming services. Sony was saying that people would be fearful to download the movie for fear their info would be compromised.

And in another bizarre twist: Paramount has banned all upcoming screenings of Matt Stone's & Trey Parker's 2004 satire, "Team America: World Police".

https://twitter.com/ThisIsFusion/sta...79975488425984

From the movie's Wiki page (good thing I bought a DVD copy today), and it's still on Netflix as of this posting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_America:_World_Police

Reaction to Guardians of Peace threats on The Interview[edit]

See also: Sony Pictures Entertainment hack
In the aftermath of the December 2014 Guardians of Peace terrorism threats on showings of the film The Interview, which resulted in Sony Pictures pulling the film from release,[34] several theatres protested the loss by scheduling showings of Team America: World Police.[35] However, Paramount pulled distribution of Team America from theaters and asked several retailers to recall the DVDs and Blu-Ray discs from stores, and discourage streaming services like Netflix from having the movie.[36] This action is seen by some as an attack on freedom of speech by Hollywood studios,[37] and others as an act of pure cowardice.[38]

I feel it is my duty as an American to make sure that Sony and now Paramount never get a single dollar from me again. Seriously, Kim Jung Un just made Sony his bitch and it's embarrassing.

ETA- Apparently it's the movie theaters and distributors that ended up making the call to shelf the movie. Sony Pictures wants to release it, they just don't have a platform to do so.

No, they've said they won't even release it on Netflix or straight to on demand or video. If they really wanted to put it out, there are still independent theaters out there. Honestly, it's probably a crappy movie that they were dreading the release and flop of anyway, the threats are kust the cherry on the sundae.

I work for a major theatre chain and while I can't say a ton, I will say that the threats and hacking attempts were not just confined to Sony. There were many other organizations in the movie business, including multiple large chains, that were targeted.
