Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been suspended for two years by the University of Kentucky. Suspension is due to failure to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, alcohol policy, and violations of the student code of conduct.

Pi Beta Phi at Washington University has been closed following a vote of collegiate chapter members affirming the chapter’s desire to disband.

Wow...”founded in 1907”. That’s over a century of history and thousands of women initiated. I wonder if the current members reached out for alumnae input before making this decision?
While all these disbanding are, ultimately, the decision of current sisters, do they consider the disenfranchisement that’s a by-product of all this?

With this in mind, I wonder how many NPC chapters took the same vote, and decided that their sisterhoods would benefit more from working from within? We never seem to hear about those chapters.

I think they'll be back.

No. I've looked at the Greek Life sections on both campuses. UA-Anchorage has had a chapter since 2017. UA-Fairbanks does not have an Alpha Sig chapter listed.
The Alpha Sigma Phi website only shows the newest chapter (Iota Zeta) listed. So, two scenarios:
1- The UA-A chapter has been a colony since '17 and finally got their charter (quite common in the IFC world to take 2-3 years to get a charter); or, the AU-A chapter has closed and they've not updated their Greek Life website.
2- The new chapter is at UA-F and UA-F has not updated their website.
Additionally, Alpha Sigma Phi charted their colony at SUNY-Farmingdale State College. Congratulations to all of Alpha Sigma Phi's new members.

I remember when Kappa closed they were going to have them come back in 2022 but I guess they opened up for another chapter to come in. I'n not familiar with the quota/totals there so maybe the houses were all hitting it and recruitment numbers were going up.

Oh man. I just looked it up and that school has had more chapters fail than succeed. And most who are there now are recolonizations.

Hopefully Pi Phi can have a strong recruitment and be competitive! I only know DG left because of hazing/alcohol violations and Kappa was because of low numbers.
