I wouldn't say "common," but it is kinda cool. Do you know the original owners of the badges you have?

I do. I'll look it up when I get back home. If I remember I think these two got married.
I've actually given these pins to a fraternity brother for his birthday. He was happy to get them.

Not a badge, but it's pretty!

New "old" find: a miniature blue enamel on silver perfume bottle. I can't believe how small it is -- 1.5" long.

Getting a replacement Theta badge because my initiation one fell off at my birthday dinner after chapter :/

SO I don't want to spend more than $300 on the badge (I am a college student after all)

I know I want it monochromatic... either seed pearl, black onyx, or maybe my birthstone aquamarine. I would really love to get a chapter guard too (can't decide between chased or plain) I also hope to add a scholarship pearl eventually, as well as a dangle when I hopefully get on exec...

so knowing this is a growth piece, what would you recommend?

THANKS LOVELIES- and feel free to PM me if you know of a vintage badge that fits this description!

so my 2 cents is this: if you're going to get a badge w/colored stones, go for pearls w/colored points or all colored stones. the alternating stone/pearl/stone looks really choppy & you lose the impact of the colored 'gems'.

Also, go for a stone color w/high contrast to the pearls. Aquamarine, while pretty, is usually very pale, and will get washed out. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are good choices. I had a theta badge rebuilt with Amethysts and it was SUPER. (sold it to a collegiate member at Colorado State ~10 years ago-Sadly, I don't have a photo.) Pick a color you wear all the time, and match it.

Guards: if you are a single letter chapter, go with chased. otherwise do plain 'cause it'll compete w/the badge too much.

I'll PM you with more.

Has this year's Alpha Delta Pi Convention pin been shared yet? Here it is:

I haven't ordered it. I know that it will become a collector's dream, but I just don't have the $$ right now, unless I sell a few that I currently have.

BTW, it's red, white, and blue for "Deep in the Heart of Texas".

Honeychile, that's beautiful. It reminds me of the "special edition" badge that Phi Mu offered for our convention in Phoenix, Arizona. It had turquoise on it:

We had two different turquoise pins from the AZ conventions, which I did get. This one just isn't sings to me, though.

I have both of these, only in yellow gold:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Phi Mu turquoise badge!!!

I think it's neat that y'all have a special edition badge for your conventions. Very cool.
