I'm curious, what is your chours to "Here's to brother ___ "

We use : He wacks it, he smacks it, he really attacks it.

But I have also heard it done with : He's happy, he's jolly, he's f*&#ed up by golly.

Here's to brother _______, brother _______, brother _______, Here's to brother _______, who's with us tonight.
He's happy, he's jolly, he's horny, by golly!
Here's to brother _______, who's with us tonight!

Sooooooo....

Drink, motherf*cker! Drink, motherf*cker! (repeat until the drink (cup, glass, bottle, can or keg) is finished)
Here's to brother _______, who's with us tonight!

Another classic drinking song:

Drink, drink, drink, drink...
Drank, drank, drank, drank...
Drunk, drunk, drunk, drunk...
I was drunk last night, drunk the night before,
I'm gonna get drunk tonight like I never got drunk before!
'Cause when I'm drunk I'm as happy as can be,
'Cause I am a member of the Alpha Sigs!
There's a highland Sig, a lowland Sig, a middle-land Sig and the other damned Sig!
Sing Glorious! Vic-torious! One keg of of beer for the whole of us!
Singing 'Glory be to God' that there are no more of us,
'Cause one of us'll drink it all alone!
Drink beer, pass the beer to the rear of the frat-house!

Some of our old fraternity drinking songs:

The table's set, the feast is met,
the hall is gay and merry.
Good fellows all are gathered here
to drink a glass of sherry.
So grab a stein of beer or wine
and join right in the swing;
Let glasses clink, and take a drink
as merrily as we sing.

CHORUS

So, drink, drink, drink to our Fraternity
Drink, drink, drink, for she means so much to me
Good fellowship is forming here,
Oh may it never die;
So, drink, drink, drink to Alpha Sigma Phi!

As always is said in these types of threads, many HQs look a this site, do you really want your Nat'l to see this? Or present this image to prospectives and other Greeks? It's up to you.

I've heard some minor regional variations:

He hates us, he beats us, he even mistreats us!
Here's to brother _______, the worst of 'em all!

Chanting is a great tradition, and I think if they are done in fun there is nothing wrong with them. I would be happy to stand before any delegation of my brothers and give one of these chants.

I don't think Nationals are going to worry too much about a drinking song thread. Unless they have a strict policy against openly promoting alcoholic consumption to extreme excess.

I think there's going to be a fraternity/sorority double standard in this thread. I can't imagine many fraternity HQs caring. Sororities, on the other hand? Oh yeah.

Most fraternities have always cared, and would have at least provided advice against such behavior. Unless there is media or university attention in an extreme situation, its doubtful that any fraternity would take punitive actions.

Here are some of ours, i'll save the NC17 ones for another time.

• WE'RE ALL GOOD BROTHERS:

Oh, We're all good brothers, each one the other's friend
and we'll be good brothers until this world shall end.
So while we're together lets give a rousing cheer,
for Lambda - Chi - Alpha, the bond we hold so dear.

• another verse to "We're All Good Brothers"

Put your arm around your brother,
stand together man to man,
as we grow older, we're brothers in a band
that binds us together until the day we die
we're faithful forever to dear old Lambda Chi.

• HIP HIP HOORAY:

Let's give a hip hip hooray, for dear old Lambda Chi,
Let's give a hip hip hooray, and shout it to the sky.
We'll make the rafters ring when all the brothers sing,
about the cross and the crescent, it's the grandest thing.
We'll shout it all day long, We'll shout it loud and strong,
for we want the world to know (to know)
We stand together now, we stand forever proud!
For dear old Lambda Chi -- Alpha, Hey!

• The Cheer:

We're the men of Lambda Chi, Cross and Crescent, Spirits high: Purple,
Gold, and Green are we,
Number ONE Fraternity.
When I say Lambda you say Chi:
Lambda! Chi! Lambda! Chi!
When I say Number you say One:
Number! One! Number! One!

Interesting.... interesting....

Last drinking song that I remember chanting/singing was just before the holiday break... course it was at the Faculty Club with mostly Classics and English history profs, so the song was a little advanced - To Anacreon in Heaven - the drinking song that the Star Spangled Banner was taken from... unfortunatley this song is much longer - and harder to do drunk

To Anacreon in Heaven
To Anacreon in Heav'n,
Where he sat in full glee,
A few Sons of Harmony
Sent a petition
That he their Inspirer
And Patron would be;
When this answer arrived
From the Jolly Old Grecian:
"Voice, Fiddle, and Flute,
No longer be mute,
I'll lend you my name
And inspire you to boot,

Chorus:

And besides I'll instruct you,
Like me, to intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

II.

The news through Olympus
Immediately flew;
When Old Thunder pretended
To give himself airs.
"If these Mortals are suffered
Their scheme to pursue,
The devil a Goddess,
Will stay above stairs.
Hark, already they cry,
In transports of joy,
'Away to the Sons
Of Anacreon we'll fly,

Chorus:

And there with good fellows,
We'll learn to intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus' Vine.

III.

"The Yellow-Haired God
And his nine fusty Maids
From Helicon's banks
Will incontinent flee,
Idalia will boast
But of tenantless shades,
And the bi-forked hill
A mere desert will be.
My Thunder no fear on't,
Shall soon do its errand,
And dam'me I'll swing
The Ringleaders I warrant.

Chorus:

I'll trim the young dogs,
For thus daring to twine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

IV.

Apollo rose up,
And said, "Pry'thee ne'er quarrel,
Good King of the Gods,
With My Vot'ries below:
Your Thunder is useless"--
Then showing his laurel,
Cry'd "Sic evitabile
Fulmen, you know!
Then over each head,
My laurels I'll spread,
So my sons from your Crackers
No mischief shall dread,

Chorus:

While, snug in their clubroom,
They jovially twine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

V.

Next Momus got up
With his risible Phiz
And swore with Apollo
He'd cheerfully join --
"The full tide of Harmony
Still shall be his,
But the Song, and the Catch,
And the Laugh shall be mine.
Then, Jove, be not jealous
Of these honest fellows."
Cry'd Jove, "We relent,
Since the truth you now tell us:

Chorus:

And swear by Old Styx,
That they long shall intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

VI.

Ye Sons of Anacreon,
Then join hand in hand;
Preserve Unanimity,
Friendship, and Love!
'Tis yours to support
What's so happily plann'd;
You've the sanction of Gods,
And the Fiat of Jove.
While thus we agree,
Our toast let it be:
"May our Club flourish Happy,
United, and Free!

Chorus:

And long may the Sons
Of Anacreon intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

We do this chant too! In fact I learned it at an APO regional conference.

The (in)famous drinking song "Here's to brother ______" will be familiar to those who are practitioners of the fine art of 'hashing'. The song's tune is Ach, du lieber Augustin!.

Do Jimmy Buffet songs count? (yes, it is a formal song of my GLO).

One of the fraternities here has a toast they do, I don't remember it exactly, but here is what I can remember

"Here's to honor
to getting honor
to staying honor
and if you can't come with her
come honor!"

(requires pronunciation)

Now I have to say, that just took me back twenty years to the basement of the Lambda Chi at Eastern Michigan (where my first husband was a member!)

That one and the TKE fight song are engrained in me (first college boyfriend was a TKE)

Ok, now this isn't a drinking "chant" per se, but a toast, which we've used numerous times over the years, with water, diet pepsi, or wine even...

Here's to the men that we love,
And here's to the men that love us,
But the men that we love aren't the men who love us,
So to hell with the men, here's to US!
