I saw on FB that Intl. President Krista Davis is in Boston, and I wondered what was up! It seems like every time she posts lately, it's from an airport!

According to this article about the dormant Sigma Kappa chapter, Lafayette College(PA) will more than likely open for expansion.

That is hands down the worst article I've read on this subject and maybe the worst article EVER. That student should be kicked out of school.
FIRST, the chapter closed 23 years ago. Are the reasons for their closure important? And are they so important they merit mention in paragraph 2?
Second, what is the IAGGL? It sounds like it's an extension committee, but applies to sororities and fraternities. Just NPC and NIC or NPHC and MCGC?
All 26 sororities need to approve extension? So there are some NPC sororities but a coincidentally same number of non NPC sororities as the total number of NPC sororities in the conference and they have a say in whether an NPC chapter extends at this school? Or does the writer think NPC as the national organization of sororities has a say in what chapters expand on this one campus?
Why would Sigma Kappa Alumnae (and really, shouldn't a writer on the subject know the difference?) be involved at all on a campus where they are not represented? What's the point of this? The only possible explanation for this nonsensical statement is it's extorting money out of the alumnae to make a donation to the university in order to allow recolonization. But since it doesn't say this they might mean they're disappointed that that the 50 year old alumnae of now-defunct Sigma Kappa aren't participating in Greek Week or making a homecoming float.
I'm so offended at the horrendous writing here I am just beside myself.

LOL. It's a badly written article, definitely. I do think the writer believes that all 26 NPC sororities have to agree on who expands at Lafayette. But, even the title of the article is ridiculous. It is "So Long Sorority" and is about potential sorority expansion?
I'm just going to note.. Lafayette is the school that mandates a 3 week new member period. It will be interesting to see if any NPCs are interested in expanding there.

Sigma Phi Epsilon is banned from the University of Southern California for the next five years for violating the university's sexual misconduct policies.

"in 2012, 711 women rushed and 98 percent of those women were matched with a sorority."
This seems incorrect. There are 10 chapters at UNC, which would make the average new member class 70 ((711*.98)/10). I know that ADPi and DDD took 50 and 49, respectively. Unless other groups took a whole lot of QAs, this seems wrong.

My guess (just a complete stab in the dark here) is that the information from greek life staff was misquoted or misinterpreted. Here's what I am thinking it might be (my additions in bold):
“Jermisha Dodson, coordinator of fraternity and sorority life for the Dean of Students Office, said that in 2012, 711 women rushed, or registered for recruitment, and 98 percent of those women who made it to the final round (preference) were matched with a sorority. This was an increase from the 670 women that rushed in 2011, with a 95 percent match rate.”

Sister, I wouldn't jump for joy just yet. The day prior they were welcoming our organization to campus for the presentation. I took it as saying, "Welcome to the campus to present." I could be wrong and if I am, sory. Do we know for sure we were chosen as the new sorority to come on campus? If so, YAY!
