Do you guys have any rival fraternities or sororities?

Simple question. Is there any particular group that you guys are constantly competing with or that there is just tension between?

When I was in school, our chief rivals were the Kappa Alpha chapter and the TKE chapter. TKE has since left our campus and, oddly enough, the current guys get along great with the KAs and have the most competition with the group that we were friendly with.

I don't see anything particularly wrong with the question. On many campuses, there are friendly and not-so-friendly rivalries between the fraternities. I understand that Panhellenic frowns on it, but it's not really a big deal in IFC.

I even had good friends in the 2 groups that were our biggest rivals.

Yea, I suppose it depends on how you interpret the question.

ETA: This...

.. would be ok to answer, assuming we're talking about Greek Week, or something like that. But this...

or that there is just tension between?
.. isn't something that anyone should (want to) answer. Just like you wouldn't advertise problems within your chapter on the internet (unless done anonymously), you shouldn't advertise problems between your fraternity and others.

IMO.

Sigma Pi and SAE do not get along on my campus. Issues happened between members two years ago or so and they havent got along since. Not exactly a friendly rivalry.

Edit: This is common knowledge on my campus /shrug

I think with NPHC fraternities, we're always competing with each other in some way.

I have a particular thing against Krappas though.

I assume the OP was asking everyone and not just the guys.

Yeah there are always jokes and friendly jabs.

No matter what, most people who know about NPHC orgs would say that Delta and AKA are competitors. But, every wise person who is in their right mind knows that nothing can compete with Delta.

We have one major rival, we aim for the same freshmen and it does get really competitive each year. We're quite a bit bigger though and usually get the ones we want anyway

On our campus there isn't really tension but there is some sort of unspoken rivalry between the Kappa Sigmas and us TKE's. I do have friends that are kappa sigs though so it's not too extreme.

Never assume what people won't answer.

Most rivalries, whether friendly or not so, are for the most part public knowledge; especially amongst the NPHC.

As for our rivalries. On our campus friendly rivalry (which some knuckle head on both sides would misinterpret) it was the Alphas. Mainly because we attracted the same type of interests.

Unfriendly it was the Kappas.

We had a problem between the Gamma Eta Taus and the Sigma Eta Alpha Rho Kappas. Those guys were always ready for a rumble.
