Between my fellowship and my savings, the damage is going to be a lot lower than I thought! However, still pretty stinkin' epic considering. Still applying for scholarships with late deadlines, I wanna see if I can pull in anything else.

Congrats on the half-funding, that is phenomenal! Very nice, indeed.

If you don't mind me asking (and you feel comfortable sharing) where will you be attending school for you PhD? Also, what are you going to get your PhD in? The reason I ask is because I am also very interested in eventually going to school to further my education, as well. I wish you the best of luck!

Grad School - Let the fun begin...Again.

Finished studying about a month ago and took the GRE...if I can make any reco's (recommendations) - if you still have a Borders or B&N around grab a Kaplan book and take the practice tests!! I think I shaved a couple days off my life stressing about the test, but I think those helped a lot, otherwise I might've lost some years...lol. As for what I'm gonna study?

Why did you take the GRE for MBA?

That's a GMAT concentration, generally speaking. I'm sure there are exceptions out there, but every MBA program I've seen only accepts the GMAT.

If anyone cares, I'm in my second grad program for "environmental sustainability for live agriculture", specifically poultry and cattle. I got in December, but only took one class this semester. I'll probably be taking two next semester. It's tough balancing a 60 hour or so work week and grad courses, but it's fine.

Do you have an undergraduate degree in business? If you do, why are you getting an MBA?

I took both the GMAT & the GRE. I did better on the GRE and my school accepts them both. Didn't do so hot w/ the data sufficiency questions, so I thought of another way.

I know how you feel with that 60 hr week. I'm doing that now..gotta figure out how to balance that w/ school, but I'm looking forward to it.

I do. I have undergrad degrees in Biz Management - Entrepreneurship as well as Marketing - Integrated Marketing Communications...but I'm getting my M.B.A. by recommendation of my Undergrad Advisor and it's something I've wanted. Hopefully w/in the near future I'll be an actual Professor.

Initially, I was going a different route w/ an M.S. in PR and Org Com, however, my life changed and so did my focus of study...although I did particularly well in that program - 4.0 for the duration I was in the program was kinda nice to brag about .

Personally, I think MBA's are a racket.

Is anyone headed back to school to do/study something they've never done before?

My first M.Ed. is in Counseling with a focus on rehabilitation and disabilities.

I'm going back for an M.Ed. Intervention Specialist degree (technical term for Special Ed. teacher.) While I've worked with individuals w/ special needs before as clients, I'm still nervous.

Counseling adults/children with special needs is one thing. EDUCATING THEM is a whole new ballgame.

/NERVES.

Okay, then let me just tell you that, many schools will not count your MBA for anything when you go on to get your PhD. Some will, but you should check NOW with the schools that interest you for your PhD/DBA.
