Underground

Hi,

I would like to start an underground sorority but I have no idea how to proceed. If anyone has any experience in this, please send me a PM.

I'm also not sure if that is appropriate or not for the boards since it's not PC but I desperately need some help!

It's a lot easier to get something done with the support of your campus.

Unless you are planning to majorly haze, there is no real reason to start an "underground" sorority anyway.

We were officially terminated and removed from campus and no, we definitely do NOT plan to haze. There are still some girls with a lot of heart that would like to continue.

I just want to know the best way to recruit, garner interest..

By the way, this is not a national organization.

Well for starters, if something's going to be truly "underground" it's really counterproductive TO TALK ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET.

If you feel you were terminated from campus without a good reason, enlist the help of your alumnae to re-attain recognition.

I think that in order to figure out what your next steps should be, you should probably look at why your organization was terminated/removed from campus/lost recognition (do you mind sharing?). In any case, it's easy to jump to a decision in the heat of the moment...it might be wise to take some time for everyone to settle down before deciding what to do next.

If you lost recognition because your chapter/members violated school policy, continuing to operate as an unrecognized organization will continue to damage your org's relationship with the school and will most likely ensure that your school will refuse to consider re-recognizing your organization in the future. However, if your members and alumnae show that you are willing to face the consequences of the situation, there may be a chance of recognition in the future.

However cool and badass operating underground may sound now, keep in mind that you will most likely piss off the other recognized organizations and other students, and you won't seem so badass then. You'll just be annoying. Or, your campus may love underground organizations, so you may not be annoying...just something to consider.

damn where's that lightbulb when you need it?

actually, i got the impression she meant more like a secret society, one of those things you get tapped into?

otherwise, i back to agreeing with 33girl.
