Local, Professional, AND National?
Hi y'all,
My friend and I were talking about GLO's today and she kept insisting that you can be in a local sorority, a professional fraternity, and a national sorority all at the same time? I had thought it was limited to one national sorority and as many professional fraternities/honor societies as you wanted (permitted that they don't overlap, of course). Any input would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Technically, you probably could be in a local and an NPC since there are no agreements saying you can't be, but on most campuses locals are part of the campus Panhellenic with the NPC chapters which would prohibit this.

But you could have been initiated into a local, transferred, and then initiated into a national -- or vice versa.

The only two restrictions would be 1) the NPC rule that you can only belong to one NP1C organization in your lifetime and 2) and rules the particular college PH has about membership in an NPC group and a local. I can't see any other issue.

Forgive me if this is a silly question, but I'm rather new... What does NOC stand for?

It's just a typo. I think it should be NPC.

Just want to add, that you can also be in a service glo as well. Like Gamma Sigma Sigma or Alpha Phi Omega. But please remember the time commitments that these organizations take. And that your campus and specific organization may have local level rules against it.
