That's so true LadyNRed, sometimes we (women & men) try to help God out and make our own choices. And that's how we get all of this emotional baggage.
But, if we would just be patient and trust in him, then HE will send us who & what we need---when we need it.

BAG LADY
>
One of my co-workers sent this to me and I thought that you guys would enjoy it so here it is.........
Eraka Badu has a popular song called "Bag Lady." At first I didn't get
> it, but it's letting women know that sometimes it's hard to let it go and
> sometimes you can't stop crying when someone hurts you bad inside."
She sings "pack light." This message is about carrying that heavy emotional
> baggage of grief, sadness, depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts
> and "why did he leave me-what's wrong with me-I don't want to be
alone-I'm not complete without him-who is he with now-I love him-I hate him-
revenge blues."
You can't breathe, live and or be happy carrying around all that junk.
>
> Let it go sisters. Don't become a professional "emotional bellhop"
> carrying all that toxic and heavy stuff everywhere you go. As Eraku Badu
> sings, "whether you are paper sack lady or a Gucci bag lady...pack light,
> all you must hold on to is ...you."
>
> Stay in the light!!!
God says his yoke is easy and his burden is light...
> Be encouraged!

Believe it or not!! I got the message the first time I heard it. My word for this is:
GOD says that he will supply all of our needs and he assures us that if we keep his commandments he will give us the desires of our hearts.

Hi Soror LadyNRed. I haven't seen you on here in awhile. How's SLAC? If you talk to LKHDelta7 tell her I said OO-OOP!
I really like that song, it is deep. Badu is bad! I wonder does she write her own lyrics.

What's up fellow moderator? I have BADU's new CD, "Mama's Gun". It's really good. I think it's a must have for everyone on your X-MAS list. Especially check out the song, "Green Eyes". To answer your question, she does write all of her own songs. She's been doing it since the beginning. She's only a couple of years older than me, how did she become so self-actualized? Go get the album you will enjoy it. It's not the typical stuff out their now, she's on some other sh**t.

We were at Grambling at the same time. She was ALREADY like that back then (early 90's). She NEVER did what others did...she was, and still is on ANOTHER plateau. Can you believe, one Spring, we had our talent show..a spinoff of Showtime at the Apollo...SHE WAS BOOED off stage.
Who has the last laugh, now?

Hey Nupe, I will add Badu's latest to my Xmas list.
AKA, I didn't know she went to Grambling. BTW, I'm glad your represented well in Alabama although that was supposed to be TSU...lol!
Regarding Badu being booed off stage, you know that talent shows, unfortunately, don't look for FUTURE talent. They like to see and hear what's happening right then. Now, if a talent scout had been there, it might have been a different story.

When I first heard On an On, I thought Erykah Badu was a weirdo. But after other singles were released on Baduizm, I saw that she really has talent. She doesn't have the prettiest voice, but her lyrics are tight.

What? do you know that she has been put right up there with the LEGEND OF ALL LEGENDS...MS. HOLIDAY...BILLIE, THAT IS!
Director: yeah she was at GSU 89-at least 94...I graduated in 93, she was still there then...she did not graduate, though! She performed at homecoming in 99. She did alot of the performing thing...acting, singing, etc.
Yeah, we are the SWAC champions!
Let's not mention that fiasco @ Bayou Classic! Girl I was sick!
