A University of Washington student died after falling from a cliff in Italy early Saturday morning, the Seattle PI reported, citing local Italian media.
Kelly Denman, 20, was traveling through Europe with two friends. Her most recent stop was the small beach town of Vernazza, Italy.
Denman, a member of Delta Gamma sorority, was last spotted leaving her apartment about 4 a.m. Saturday.
Her friends spent the day trying to contact her but said her cell phone was not working.
About 2 p.m. two boys found Denman’s body near a beach only reachable by boat.
The Seattle PI reported the coroner believes her injures are consistent with a fall, though a full autopsy was planned.
The UW student, who is from Englewood, Colo., had a
Twitter bio that said: "Die living," and she had been documenting her trip on the social media site.
On July 6 she posted: "Cannot wait to study abroad in South Africa!" On August 8 she worte: "Slight change of plans — no Switzerland but Germany and Luxembourg instead! Paris tomorrow night then Italy!"
On August 11, two days before her death, she posted a photo of the ocean taken from her room in Vernazza.
"There are currently no plans for a memorial service for Denman at Delta Gamma. Denman would have been a junior this year," The Daily UW newspaper reported Monday.
