My cousin's "surprise" engagement was professionally filmed and photographed. I say "surprise" because it so clearly wasn't one, but they wanted people to think it was. Then again, these are people who professionally photographed every single moment leading up to their wedding and ended up all over the wedding blog circuit.

I don't think people stealthily taking pictures of an engagement is overkill, because it can be done by friends and it is a very special moment. But yeah, most of that stuff I would never do, personally. I hadn't even heard of engagement photos until my friends started getting married. They weren't really a thing when my mom was getting married, and she was previously my only source of wedding info.

This is what I'm talking about.
I'm not talking about cell phone pics or video.
More like:
"Surprise" professional proposal video.
"Surprise" proposal photo shoot.
Save the date video and photos.
Etc.

DIY-ing things is pretty hot right now with weddings. I found this flow chart to help you decide whether you should DIY something (be it your centerpieces, invites, whatever) and whether you should hire someone.

^ I love the "Yay! Go for it!" lol
We've gotten 51% of responses back for our RSVPs. 54% of bride's side has responded but only 44% of groom's side has responded. Overall, 90% of our guests who have RSVPd thus far are attending. 95% of bride's side RSVPs were a yes, while 80% of groom's side were a yes.
Did I ever mention I love pivot tables?
I expected to have more RSVPs in by now. The deadline is in 9 days. I knew we'd have to make phone calls, but I didn't think there would be this many. The annoying thing is that I will have to call a few of the RSVPs that we received because we don't have the name of their guest. We invited all of my dad's aunts and uncles (he has a very, very large extended family). Many of them are older and widowed or never married, so we knew they would need to be accompanied by one of their kids or another family member. I've gotten 3 RSVPs from an aunt or uncle that says "2" but they don't clarify who their guest is. Gotta love guessing!

LOVE this. I had a few projects that I was going to DIY. I counted up the cost and found it would be like $5-15 cheaper to have someone on Etsy do it. DIY (especially if you want it to turn out nice) is not nearly as cheap as I thought.

Getting married one year from today.
Weird to think that one year from today, I'll have been through the match, GRADUATED, and (finally!) gotten married. Overwhelming.

I've gotten thank-you notes pre-wedding for gifts we had shipped. I've never thought anything of it.

Yes! In fact, it's better etiquette to do so. If you haven't let them know you got them, you should do that as well.
