NCO Club is not an option, as we aren't near a base.
Have you considered calling your local USO? If her fiance is in the military, then they might have some suggestions to help you. They also might be able to help secure a reception spot. Most cities have USO offices, even if a base isn't nearby.

Also, does someone she knows have a nice house with a pretty backyard? Maybe you could rent a tent (one of those nice white ones)and have the reception there.

If you rent a tent I would get some of those outdoor space heaters, too. If OH is like NY, the weather isn't super predictable in May.

We had a snowstorm in May once. That was fabulous.

Yeah an outdoor event in May is pretty risky. In some years during May, it has been 60 degrees and sunny one day and 30 degrees and sleeting the next.

They rent out our Junior League building also. That might be a good place to check.

what about a social hall at her/your church? if cousin is on a tight budget, maybe holding the reception at a church, where cake, finger foods and punch(no alcohol) are the norm. might help her stay within her budget.

there must be a womans club or junior womans club in town. maybe they have a building they rent out?

are you near a body of water where there might be boat cruises? think the booze cruise on "the office". there are a couple of ships here in naples that rent the entire boat for parties/weddings/receptions.

I don't think so. But I'm not a floral expert.

You can get most flowers all year long - you will just have to pay for more expensive imported ones some seasons.

Anyone had any success selling their wedding dress on e-bay or other sites? I got a message saying mine is done at the cleaners. I don't have the room or the desire to save it, I'd rather have the pics and the cash. I'm really lucky because I didn't alter the dress at all, so it is true to size (the one benefit to being unusually tall) so I'm hoping it will sell decently.

Funny you posted this because my best friend just recently sold her gown on The Knot. The gown cost her $1300, and someone contacted her willing to pay her more than her asking price (because it was something she really wanted).

The women on that site are mostly nuts, but they'll buy your stuff.
