I was surprised the colony happened so fast! Presumably the girls are from the local that AST absorbed. Congrats on the new colony!

I think you are right - I read online that the Kappa Sigma Alpha girls were being "initiated" into AST on November 4. I think initiated might have been used improperly, but in any case it seems that the local "Kappas" were pledged first.

Theta Xi has announced that it will colonize at Middle Georgia State College in Fall '15. Best wishes in their colonization. (I believe that they will be the 1st Greek organization on campus.)
To clarify: Middle Georgia State College has opened for expansion of IFC, NPHC, and NPC.

Yes, from what I gather, they made the Kappas new members, more bids have been distributed this week, and national representatives are tabling in common areas around campus to get the word out. The colonization will officially occur in spring.
Very exciting! We've presented at so many places in the past year, so it's good to finally see a new chapter starting

Interesting that 3 out of the 5 initiates are seniors. Hopefully they'll be involved in a lot of outreach to underclassmen during the remainder of the school year.
Congratulations to Zeta Phi Beta!

It's an NPHC group. This isn't really a cause for concern.

That actually happened to a school I am familiar with last year.

ADII and KD presented this past week at UAB (U of Alabama at B'ham) and Phi Mu and Sigma Kappa will present this week. Not sure when decision will be made. Interesting that SK is presenting as they don't have much of a presence in the state. The others have a large presence here.

Hasn't SK had a chapter there before, though?

Yep. From 1980-1984. Their only active Alabama chapters are Auburn and the new chapter at Spring Hill.
