Online chapters
Hi Sisters-
I've been thinking about online chapters for awhile and was hoping some of you ladies that are in one could answer some questions for me.
Do you like your OL chapter? Why did you decide to join an OL chapter? What are your meetings like? How did you get hooked up with your OL chapter?
Thanks for your help!

Hey all! Just bumping this up because I will not be able to attend meetings for my land chapter for a few months due to a time conflict with a class (I start school on Jan. 11!). Anyway, I figured now would be a good time to seriously look into online chapters. If you are in one, please let me know what it is like!

I'm also interested in joining an online chapter. I already belong to a land chapter, but also like the online sisterhood.

Re: Online chapters
I enjoy my online chapter. We are a bunch of talktative ones (I mostly lurk). There are women of various ages and for once I am not the baby! (in my BSP area, I am not only the youngest in my chapter, I am the youngest period)
Why did I decide to join: I was nudged by Erica
Meetings are pretty much like land chapter meetings but they are conducted via email
How did I get hooked: Erica reeled me in. Then she reeled Mich in (BSP Mich). Then HeavensLilAngel got in there. Erica is a magnetic one I tell ya

Thanks, Jill
The online chapters are all different. I like the format of Online Kappa.
You should go to www.betajournal.com. Look at the Online Chapters page and the Cyber Council page. You can get great information there.
OLK's site is www.geocities.com/onlinekappa
I hope you find one that you like.
Erica

Can you be a member of both a land chapter and an online chapter? Or is it just one or the other? Do you also have to be a specific degree to be in an online chapter?

Hhahaha. I'm the youngest member too here. When i get married, I'll be the youngest member with the oldest kids(I'll be 26 when i get married with three step kids that will be 14, 9, and 8). Currently everyone else is 30 or older

To answer your first question, you may be a member of both a land and online chapter. Secondly, you need not be a specific degree to join an online chapter. I've known of pledges who belong to online chapters, but I think they do their rituals through land chapters.
Can someone more familiar than I explain how doing the rituals works?

I'm the youngest member of my chapter, and I'm the only single one.

Do you pay dues in an online chapter like you do for a land chapter? Do you pay nationals once or twice?

It depends on the chapter. Some have dues (Online Kappa does, right?), but you should only have to pay once to International.
