Am I free to join another sorority if I'm nationally terminated?
I joined SororityA at University but transferred shortly after b/c of financial aid and another school had a better academic & financial offering for me. I've received emails from nationals saying to sign a form for an update- if I don't I'll be nationally terminated. I love my sorority and my Big & my soon to be twin but I am going to another university and I only experienced sorority life for a short time. I've read forums about transferring & not being able to join another sorority "ever, never ever forever.... Ever" but if I'm nationally terminated- kicked out by the head honchos- am I STILL unable to join another one? Does that basically soil my name w/ NPC?
PLEASE don't chew me out or see me as a sorority jumper or anything, I'm just curious.

Are you initiated in sorority A and is it an NPC member sorority?

The search function is your friend.
First, were you initiated? If not you should be able to rush at your new school and join another sorority, as far as I know-- others here would know more.
If you HAVE been initiated, you can probably go alum, or try to see about joining the chapter of your sorority at your new school, if there is one, and if they will permit it. You need to contact your nationals if this is the case.
And if you HAVE been initiated joining another NPC is out of the question. You might be eligible to join a local if they have them at your new school.

No. If you initiated, you cannot join another NPC sorority, even if you are kicked out.
My advice is to do whatever it takes to stay in good standing with your nationals. You might want to participate as an alumna.

As Taylor Swift might sing: you are never ever going to get together (with another NPC sorority) if you were initiated.

No.
And... you'll be terminated if you don't "sign a form for an update" ??? Can you please elaborate? This has piqued my curiousity.
Members in good standing go MIA all the time; they move, get transferred, whatever, and don't update their info with Headquarters. However, we don't terminate members if we don't have a current address for them. At least, my NPC GLO doesn't. I can't speak for the other 25 NPC GLOs.
Methinks there is a little more to this story.

I admit confusion. You've already transferred or you plan to transfer? You're getting a twin (but you're transferring?)
Can you please clarify and perhaps explain this situation in a linear fashion?

We do not terminate MIA members, either, so that's 2 of the 26.

Neither do we. That's 4. Could you imagine?
I started an alumnae chapter several years ago and the biggest thing I had to do was wade through the list and try to make updates. We would have been terminating HUNDREDS of members if that were the case and that was in just one metro area.
My guess is she never finished paying her new member fees.

We don't either... we just call them "lost sisters" in the database. We do occasionally receive e-mails asking if we know any "lost sisters" personally, to get them to update their info!
So 5 out of 26 don't do so.

I'm pretty sure we are 7. I haven't heard of us doing this anyway.
