Thanks

lol....i love the elementary kids, but since my certification is 4-8, i could teach middle school if I so choose to. So this will be an experience for me. Who knows I might actually like it.

I spoke to the principal, and my mom (who's a teacher there) and the consensus is that I WON'T be teaching the ELAR class, but I'll be teaching math instead. The sub that is doing math can't handle it, so they'll give her the ELAR class, and since I'm better at math, i'll take over for her. It's supposedly a better job, for me, because the kids aren't as bad and the classes are smaller.

So i'll be teaching math (mostly remedial math) for 6, 7, and 8th graders. And some days i'll be 'team teaching' with other math teachers.

We'll see what happens, and how long I stay (right now its only til like next friday, but if the teacher stays in the hospital, it'll be for longer).

My terror child clawed (and I mean that literally) my arm. I have my left arm bandaged from the 4 long scratches she left on me when she threw another fit.

2nd week in and so far, so good

I've pretty much been given freedom to do whatever lessons I choose (well for the 7th and 8th graders) but i'm still a little lost. lol.

The classes are remedial for the kids who didn't pass the TAKS (our standardized test) and the teacher really didnt' do anything with them. I just hope i'm helping them.

No one wants me to sub this week, but I kind of expected that for the week after break. I did sub on Monday, but the teacher already knew me.

After the terrible day I had yesterday, today was fantastic!!

The kids were a mess yesterday, omg. So glad that day was over with! lol.

Today though, the kids have been great....especially my 8th graders, surprisingly. I swear when my biggest troublemaker (in that class) is gone, it's like the others are fine---even though when I told the kids that, they didn't believe me lol. It is like night and day when he's around vs when he's not.

We played with the Tangrams today and I gave candy to whoever made the shapes first, and then we did a worksheet on breaking the Tangrams into Fractions. I didn't want to do a lot since they got their scores back. 1 did reeeeeaally well (he got commended, which means he got a 85% or higher) and a few others passed. Which is awesome since none of them passed last year (thus why they were in this class lol).

Gah I hope tomorrow is good (same kids as yesterday).....pray for me! lol

I JUST got called for a sub job today. They asked me to do PE at a school I already had a bad experience.

1) I don't do PE. My profile already says this.
2) Not crazy about this school.
3) I already planned stuff today since I didn't get a call this morning!

Wednesdays are always hard no matter what age group. I don't know what it is about the middle of the week that makes all the kids lose their minds.

I totally know what you mean about how the room seems different when just one kid is gone. It's like you can get more things done because you're not always having to focus on That One.

Today was a good day cause all the kids took 1 1/2 to 2 hour naps. My kids ( 12 months-18months) seem to think that naps are overrated. They think they can get by with only a 30 min to an 1hour nap A sleepy, cranky toddler is so not cute. So yay, for long naps.

Yep yep, but last week, "that one" came back into class. It hasn't been as bad so far, because apparently he's gotten it into his head that he FINALLY wants to pass . We'll see how that goes.

At least so far it's been a good day. I tried to do something easy with my class---order of operations. But 1/2 of them claimed it was too hard. Ok, these are 8th graders who are doing 6th grade work, I seriously doubt it was too hard.

I still haven't gotten used to the complaining. Grr.

1st and 2nd grade together, I assume. I actually ended up cancelling that job so I can sub for music at my alma mater. It's weird cause this teacher was MY teacher! I'm excited though. I know a lot of these kids already, too.
