"Big sister" / sponsor gift
Last month, I was initated as an Alumna in Alpha Xi Delta. My Big sister/sponsor is an amazing women, sister and friend. She and I have grown closer over the past 8 months or so, and I wanted to give her some sort of gift as a thank you.
Next week, we are having a Founder's Day dinner, and I thought that I might give it to her then.
Since we are in our 30s, I want to stay away from something too cutesy, and there obviously isn't time to get something made with our letters on it.
Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone done this, or has been a recipient of such a gift?

Bumping this because I hope that someone who hasn't seen it yet might have some ideas for me.

I don't know the Alpha Xi Delta symbols, but maybe some jewelry with such?

I gave a retiring member of our Corp. Board (who is a teacher) a Boyd's Bear that had a saying about teachers. Boyd's Bears are great keep sakes with such cute motifs.

Jewelery is always good - or how about a donation to the Alpha Xi Delta Foundation in her name? I bet HQ would be able to get you a nice card or something in time - give it to her tucked under a cute stuffed bear's arm, or in a flower arrangement.

What about some Alpha Xi Delta stationery? That's always nice to have for notes to sisters and such. I also like the jewelry idea.
I am a new alumnae initiate myself (into Zeta Tau Alpha) and my biological little sister is my big sister! But she's 25, so cutesy is still somewhat OK. :-) I'm actually pretty psyched to buy her Zeta-related presents!

Herf Jones has some really pretty jewelry for greek organizations, much of it aimed at a more classy mature level than other greek sites.

Every idea I came up with, she already has! A pin box, a crystal bracelet, a ring... I have a few more ideas, but I have to check out specialty stores for them. I'll let you know what I end up finding.

What about a nicely framed copy of your symphony/creed? That would be really pretty to hang on an office wall or display on a bookshelf.
