I'm going to be a groomsmaid (best lady?) in a wedding in April!

The bridesmaids can pick whatever style in a specific color (it's a dark purple), but I get to wear any dress I want...in black. So excited!

I picked out two dresses from J. Crew (silk taffeta, not the cotton taffeta that's pictured above). Because I wasn't sure what size I wear in J.Crew bridal, if I needed alterations, and because my friends who have worn J.Crew bridesmaid dresses mentioned that I should allow for some loosening during the day, I went to the J.Crew bridal boutique for a fitting. Fortunately, the 6 fit off the rack--so no alterations needed!

I vote for the Bow Monde dress.

I ended up picking the Mika, for two reasons:

1. The bow on the Bow Monde was a little fussier than I wanted to deal with--and it ended right at my neck. I do prefer it in colors other than black so I'm going to keep my eye on it to buy in another color (maybe yellow or purple).

2. The Mika was on sale, with 30% off on that...so a dress that originally retailed for $250, I managed to buy for $82.75 (after tax and shipping). I'm no cheapskate but I do like a bargain!

It arrived today and I was able to try it on with everything--foundation garments, shoes, and all--I like it! It's a little loose around the waist but that might be good. Now I have about 4 more weeks to go to my "Armed and Dangerous" class... ...and it has POCKETS!

Why didn't you lead with that?? LOL You could have stopped there. Clearly, it was the winner.

No idea what the fabric situation is like, but Target now has bridesmaid dresses available online. They are all $69.99 and come in sizes 2-28W. Some of the reviews aren't positive, but for bridesmaids in different areas they can be returned to a Target store and not have to be special ordered. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that all of the dresses come in the same color selection, so mixing and matching wouldn't be as easy as it could be.

Do you remember Bridesmart (also on Golf Road)? I had to get a dress there a few years back, and before I even got a chance to go there, I came across one of the best yelp reviews of all time.

Sadly, it is now out of business.

In Apple...I'm not the biggest fan of it, but it's not the worst thing either!

Oh I love the different shoes with the same dress. Wish I could convince FSiL to let us do that. She has us all wearing the same shoe from payless. My fat foot does NOT fit into it.

I would like to just wear all the dresses on this page every day. And the shoes. So much adorableness.
