I remember a little while ago that there was a rumor Santa Clara was open, but never heard any confirmation. Are they definitely open?

LaneSig - we still haven't heard anything from Belmont, right? Would that move forward to this thread?

I haven't been given any information on Belmont. I chose not to put it on the list at this time. If someone hears any news and passes it along, I'll put them back on the list.

IMO, it was a strange situation. Their Panhellenic is wanting to add another chapter, but their admin is blocking it. I would have thought that they'd be on the same page before they held presentations.

Was the admin blocking it before presentations? That is, are they just not digging their possible choices and changing their previous tune?

I don't think it's that cut and dried. People in recognized groups can get those things pretty easily too. It's up to the system and campus culture. No underground stays around if there isn't a sort of social cachet to belonging to it. If the majority of students think a group was expelled for what they consider bogus reasons, the group will linger around. And sometimes demonizing the group makes them even more popular.

I had heard from a Santa Clara University student that they were open for expansion this spring but couldn't find anything official...I texted her to see if she had heard anything more and she said that Pi Phi and Gamma Phi Beta were "in the running" and that there was a good deal of excitement about another group coming to campus. She isn't on Panhellenic so she didn't know if there were other groups interested or if presentations had been made yet...again this is all hearsay and I would love to hear something official but as they aren't recognized by the school there isn't any Greek Life Coordinator to contact for confirmation

Sigma Sigma Sigma will be recolonizing at University of Massachusetts Amherst this fall following formal recruitment. Don't know this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I hadn't seen it. Congrats to Sigma Sigma Sigma.

Apparently they will not be pursuing a house, as there is no property available near campus as well as residential zoning changes in Amherst over the past year. They will be joining AEPhi and AXO as unhoused chapters, while SK, KKG, SDT, XO and IGU (local) own houses surrounding campus.

Congrats to SSS on their return to campus (they left in 1996)

Hmm. I was informed it was this fall by someone in the know when I was on campus yesterday. I'll dig further. To me it makes more sense for 2016.

Haven't fulfilled my quota of giggles today, so I must inquire whether the local Rho Beta Sigma (PBS) Downton sorority is looking for NPC affiliation?

A Downton campus would be more likely to attract chapters than the Downtown campus is!
