I'm not saying USC made the right call on this situation, but this is a prime example of why it behooves collegiate members in all GLOs to take risk management and standards issues very seriously. I don't know what actions the chapter took regarding this issue, so I'm not speaking to this case. All too often in other situations, I've seen very serious issues get swept under the rug by a chapter. When it comes to light, universities unfortunately feel as if they have to take very draconian actions as a result because it wasn't properly handled on the front end.

University of Texas-Tyler has voted to allow Pi Kappa Alpha to colonize in the spring.

The University of South Dakota Panhellenic has voted against expansion at this time. The article makes it sound as if the campus organizations are for adding a new sorority, but were directed by their national organizations to vote against it.

Arkansas still has it's own unique issues if I'm not mistaken. i.e. the two tiered quota and still no movement on housing for the most recently colonized groups?

If I were there I wouldn't have a problem with being one of the "smaller" chapters. I think you could sell that value to a rushee. But the lack of housing is a problem. And without knowin nothin bout nothin, I would think the newest chapters there must really feel like the victims of bait and switch. And I wouldn't touch expansion there with a 10 foot pole until the newest chapters have physical structures. They've got room for growth for easily 4 or 5 more chapters (and probably 8 or 10 if they wanted to), but not until there is land made available.

My thoughts exactly, that they need more chapters but that they really have to get their chapter size balanced and housing figured out before that can happen.

We've already seen it happening and I think it's going to continue that all the big schools are going to continue to open all at once. LSU, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, seems like Arkansas and Ole Miss will open sometime soon, etc etc. And I just wonder about everyone's resources and the ability to take on all these huge, big money colonizations at once. It seems like some creative stacking is in the future for some groups/schools!
