Question How similar is your local to nationals??

As the president of a new local, I am facing many decisions as I'm sure you could imagine. One of the big dilemas I face is how much we should be like other national sororities. It seems like "Well, the other sororities do it this way.." is said a lot when we discuss issues, and I don't think it should be that way. I just wanted to know how diverse/ similar your locals are compared to the other nationals.

I am a member of a national, but here is my 2 cents. It depends how much contact you want/need to have with the national sororities on your campus and if you are going to be part of one of the umbrella groups. For example, if you are going to do rush with all other NPC sororities, your rush process will have to be basically similar to theirs.

Hey all,
well as a local, we have few similarities to any particular national, we do our own thing, in our own way , but we some of our traditions might be similar but we are not modeled after any group. I know other locals that were derived from a national orother locals that were created are based on particular nationals, but it depends on the org, i guess.
I hope that answers your question or helps

Sandi, from one local president to another...do your own thang!! I feel that is why so many do and are joining local sororities...because they want to create something. For those that are NPC, they all had to start someone!! Buck the trend and do things your own way! It is fun to hang out with all the sororities because there really is no "caste system", you don't associate because they are NPC and you are not! You associate because everyone joined for the same reason and one of those were to have fun! Believe me, as President, you can't let every little thing stress you, cuz there will always be something else to worry about!!
