Same here. The first two rounds (Go greek & philanthropy day) at my school were held in our Student Center. PNMs didn't visit the chapter houses until round 3, which was House Tours/Video night.

And it was 78% of those who attended first round, rather than 78% of those who completed recruitment.
If only 1.5% were released completely, to some degree it means that 98.5% of PNM might have matched but 20% took themselves out of the game.

Today's update: As of right now (8/10) there are 1403 PNM's registered.
At Tuesday's meeting, Panhellenic projected there will be 1452 total PMN's with Quota being 86 (combined Freshmen & Upperclassmen, no break down provided).
Yesterday was the hottest day of the summer so far. Temp was 105F with continued triple digit days forecast thru next week. The power went out for a few hours on campus including sorority row. For those familiar with campus, it extended all the way to at least 15th St. Police officers manned every intersection directing traffic. It was a nightmare trying to get to the house. Needless to say all the houses got very warm during workshops. Cross your fingers this doesn't happen during Recruitment!!!

"will be 1452 total PMN's with Quota being 86"
Is that high/low/average?
That would HAVE to be high I'd think. Wow.

If that prediction proves to be accurate, it will be almost 100 more than last year and the largest PNM group and Quota ever at UA. FYI - Last year we set a new record. So did the year before that and the year before that.

WOW!! good thing panhellenic scheduled all those additional parties ... I can just see PNM groups of 100+ plus all the chapter's actives stuffed in to houses .. its to hot to even think about moving any part outside .. even if there was an appropriate area ..
not to mention with that many PNMs in a group and the shortness of the first open house parties .. you'd barely get the last one in the door when it would be time to
try to start getting them all out again ..
and then I have this vision of the fire marshall sailing in and announcing that people have to leave the house RIGHT NOW !!
good luck with keeping the air up and on full blast ...

So this quota of 86 is just a projection and not a final number? Does it account for PNMs dropping out or is it the maximum projected quota? I can't imagine why a Campus Panhellenic would set quota before preference, because obviously some PNMs will drop out. The big would get bigger and the small would get smaller.

I'm guessing the projected quota is so the groups can order bid day favors, t-shirts, catering and such. Considering their #s keep going up, if they went by last year's #s some new girls would go topless!

You know, I have to say, I do not think I've ever fully appreciated what an endurance test pulling off a competitive, Southern rush must be like for all parties involved until now. Maybe it's because I've never been around on GC for the beginning of the year, but dang...my heart goes out to those girls, both PNMs and actives. And those numbers sound like some kind of logistical nightmare. In all seriousness, how much sleep do actives get during this whole process with these kinds of numbers involved?

That's exactly it, to make sure the Chapters have a ball park figure for planning purposes and make sure everyone has enough of everything: t-shirts, gifts, name tags, food, etc. If you haven't ordered/bought enough stuff already this gives you time to fix that. Quota won't be set until after Pref/Serious Night.

That just brought back memories of Bid Day for me! I remember getting our Bid Day t-shirts and thinking to myself that I was probably a loser for wanting to wear my t-shirt the next day...but then all the actives encouraged us all to wear the shirts around campus and that they would be wearing them too! Sure enough, the next day the campus was dotted with girls in t-shirts of bright colors and you could tell who was in what group by the color shirt they had on...even though I didn't have class that day! I just wore my shirt to go pick up my football tickets from Stegeman Coliseum. Ah, memories.
