On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Armistice. Thank you to all who have served, are serving, and will serve.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Happy Veterans day! Both of my parents are retired from the USAF, and on a good note, a friend of mine came back home from Iraq today.

Thank you Veterans, and to your families for the sacrifices you make so that we may live in this great country!

My husband is currently in the Air Force, and I will say it always brings a tear to my eye when complete strangers stop him, shake his hand and say thanks.

We do, or did, it because it's a part of us. It's nice to be recognized. I'm thankful every day for those who face the worst tasks imaginable, knowing they're the face of our Country to millions.

Thanks to all who serve and have served.

Well said, DGTess. I agree. Thank you to those who are currently serving or have served. Thank you to the families who serve their countries by standing behind their servicemembers, as well.
