The U of C had its share of student unrest in the late 60's/early 70's.
It also had one of the preeminent graduate schools of library science. I considered going there. But when I went on a campus tour (summer, 1973) my dad went with me for safety's sake. I thought that that wasn't how I'd like to spend my grad school days. So I stayed at Mizzou (and completed my term as Panhellenic president, and got to be a chapter consultant, and because of that I got my first professional library job in central Texas.....so things turned out well despite not going to U of C!).

Congratulations to Kappa! Phi Gamma Delta went on a few years ago and have had great success. It appears to be a welcoming Greek atmosphere.

It mainly depends on the sorority. We use one half of the ballroom for chapter , KD use to use the other half but they use the smaller ballroom in another builindg. Chi O uses 2 lecture halls and so does ZTA.
Hopefully with the 5th sorority our sizes will go down again and next year (Fall 2013) the largest spaces will be big enough for all five.

Congratulations!!!
(now I have 2 reasons for resenting Appalachian State...for not picking Gamma Phi, and for humiliating Michigan in that horrible football game a few years ago )

Congrats to them, but that seems a little quick to only have the colonizations a year apart.

That would be unusual as it's nearly twice the 55 total IrishPipes lists.
About ten years ago U of C listed sixty as total, so it has gone down; with at least one new group coming on, if total really has moved to 100 the women would most likely move it back down.
I can't see (from reading posts on this thread) that an extremely large group of women (numbering 100 total) are underserved by the panhellenic currently on campus.
