Dickinson College: Pi Beta Phi Party Leads to Arrests & Investigation (Alcohol)

A regional news source reports:

http://www.cumberlink.com/articles/2...ws/news198.txt

Brief excerpts from the short article:

. . . a large party with people who were underage drinking.

The Pi Beta Phi sorority at Dickinson College was responsible for sponsoring and organizing the party, police say, and investigation is continuing, with the possibility of further arrests. . . .

[one person] was charged with underage drinking, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he was observed falling off a stone wall in the rear of the lot, then fleeing and fighting with police. . . .

[two individuals] were found passed out on the floors of the ladies rest room and dance room respectively, police say, and both were taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center. . . .

ETA: The report may be an unfortunate reminder that even using a third-party vendor carries some risks. Vendors "should" be on the lookout for underage guests and for "overserved" people of legal drinking age. But things don't always work out that way.

Very true... This is slightly reminiscent of what just happened at UF

Nothin' says class like "Howard Johnson Inn’s Country Oven Bar". Just kidding. Just the name of the place had me in giggles!

A December 5 news report about the incident and the investigation includes quotes from a person at Pi Phi HQ as well as a Dickinson spokesperson:

This is not a big deal, kids in college are gonna drink. It sucks that they were irresponsible about it, put them on social probation for a semester and let it blow over.
