Pins/Badges
I was just curious if any other locals out there had pins and/or badges for their fraternity or sorority?
Here is ours:

I was interested to see that, because that question crossed my mind once and I wasn't sure if local groups had pins or not. My dad's fraternity was local and had a pin, but that was back in the day.

My sorority has active member pins that are made by a jeweler in town. I don't have a picture of them, but they are gold with our letters (Sigma Chi Delta) in a row going down, like a lavalier. It also has a thin gold chain with a sapphire stone guard pin attached.

Don't all locals have badges, except maybe brand new ones? The local at our school did. The pledges had to be particularly careful of their pledge pins, because they had a limited number made and ordering more was an expensive proposition. I'd post a picture except I don't have one.
I love seeing photos of these!

AOX81,
Your badge is lovely, it reminds me of the AEPhi badge, which I have always admired.
qtbecks,
Wish we could see yours, it sounds so pretty.
FuzzieAlum, I agree, I absolutely love to see other badges. I really think that are all beautiful in their own way.

Aww, thanks violets!
I'll try and get a picture taken of it, but it might not be for a while...we just had our first night of Recruitment, still have the rest of the week to go, and I'm one of the co-chairs! But, I'll see what I can do.

I'm an AXD. That's a Theta Mu, my chapter designation. Anyway, you're not allowed to join more than one NPC or NPHC sorority; the only way to join more than one is to join a local and a national.

If anyone is still interested, I managed to take and develop a picture of my pin that I described earlier, and I should have it scanned and maybe posted today.

I've been wondering recently how to go about getting a pin or badge made--isn't it cost prohibitive to get a pin made for a local? Or were you able to get a good deal with a jeweler? We have laveliers--that's easy enough to do. But I'm not sure about how to go about getting a pin done.
I've sometimes thought about picking up a jewelry course just for the purpose--a grandiose idea, and not very practivcal, considering how expensive equiptment is--so I'm really interested in knowing how locals go about it.

We get our pins through a local jeweler, and they cost, I think, about $75...that includes the pin and the sapphire guard. As for if they make them in their store or order them from somewhere else, I have no clue how they set it up.

By the way, I would love to see pictures of any and all local badges -- badges in general are so neat, and badges of locals have so much effort put into them!

My sorority has 3 different pins:
1. Our philanthropy pin which is the Avon Breast Cancer Awareness pin.
2. Our New Member Pin which is a gold dolphin found at Hallmark
3. Our badge which looks like the ATO bad only with a bow in the center and it's green and gold (as opposed to black and gold) with our letters on it.

For pledge pins my sorority just has small fabric Morning Glories (our flower). We do have badges for sisters. They are a black shield on top of a golden one with our letters going down them diagonally surrounded by some of your symbols.
