i stopped going down to black bike week after i ended up down at MB for the other bike week. there is a huge difference between the two. the police presence is different, the overall atmosphere just isnt right to me. i truly felt as though they didnt want "US" there, but since it brings in so much money they cant say too much. the "other" bike week was much more enjoyable for me (i was down there with a vendor) and seemed to me that everyone actually wanted them to be there...

What do you mean by "US" and which bike week was worse? Your post was a little bit confusing (which is the other bike week). I've seen pictures from several different bike weeks and they all look like there is the same festive atmosphere.

Everyone PLEASE be careful!!
People die during this weekend due to carelessness and alcohol. Have fun but remember that it isn't worth your life.

I stumbled upon the Daytona Beach Bike Week in 2000 and it didn't consist of black people as far as I could tell.
It turned me off to bike weeks PERIOD but there was little to no police presence. I don't know if that's indicative of the different types of bike weeks on the east coast or if Daytona's annual bike week (that's a huge deal to a lot of people) isn't well policed.

ok... to clarify, i have attended the "black" bike week as well as the "white" bike week (hence the "us" and "them" to be polite )
the "white" bike week was better organized, and it seemed to be more of an actual event than the "black" bike week. i went to "white" bike week with a friend of mines who owns a tshirt/embroidery business and helped pass out flyers, etc. the police presence was there, of course, but nowhere near what it was during "black" bike week. that trip i went down as a tourist with a few girlfriends of mine who own bikes. it was just as though a bunch of "us" got together, the guys shined up their vehicles and the girls got as legally naked as possible. it was (for lack of a better work) ghetto! someone told me that it depends on what part of Myrtle Beach you are at. i also know from a friend of mines who grew up there, the strip is opened up more for the "white" bike week than it is the "black"...

There is also a Black Bike Week in Daytona...ive went to it once, but I dont think it is as big as the White Bike week in Daytona or even the MB one...it usually takes place right after the Regular spring break in March and Before the Black College Reunion..

i went to black bike week (Myrtle Beach) 2 times in college. i will NEVER go again because (1) i'm grown and (2) there was too much foolishness. My take on foolishness may differ from yours so by this i mean kids stunting on bikes with no helmets, girls exposing themselves, dudes running up on you and talking ANY kind of way "hey b*..." as opposed to "excuse me miss"... and on and on. The last time i went there was a guy (18 or 19) that tried to holla at me and when he told us his age i asked "where is your mama?" his response... "prolly out there on the back of some dudes bike." Even at 21 i knew better than to be around that type of generational curse.
Myrtle Beach is generally a nice place to go. i remember when i was younger i would go with my dad and i believe we went during "white" bike weekend. I dont think race is the issue (even though it looks that way on the surface), rather the "white" bike week is less raucous and more family oriented. if not family oriented more adult and less spring-break/college kid minded. they prolly do their dirt IN the hotel and not out in the street.

It's a shame that many things associated with black people have to be characterized by such nonsense. People use these types of events as an excuse to be ignorant.

amen to that! my fiance went last year and i told him to have one hell of a time, because that was the only time he would go. "black" bike week has nothing to do with the bikes, its about acting like you have no sense. you can stay home and do that! i love MB any other time of the year when i can be around people with sense... and yeah Blutang, i think maybe it isnt necessarily a race issue, the "white" bike week is organized better and is def more family friendly. the "black" event is "aight yall, we're gonna meet up with our bikes and whips sparklin' and our b*tches naked!" i hated to go there lol but that is how "we" act...throw in some Alize and dro and these kids live up to all the stereotypes placed upon us...

The one in Daytona Beach isn't more family friendly. It just isn't as overtly ignorant.

i have never been to the "white" bike week in Daytona. ive been to the one in MB. i believe it was a week or two before the "black" one in MB. The "white" MB one was more family friendly, i cant imagine anything in Daytona being family friendly! lol

Judge not, lest...(well, you know the rest).
Maybe they don't look at what they do as being ignorant. Who are you to make the call-God?
Then again, maybe you don't know the rest of that quote since you made an embarrassment of yourself by making such a made such an idiot statement. So how ignorant are you? Now repent!
